Partitioning into 2 drives does have some advantages. The main one is that if the D drive is used for all data ie docs, music, photos etc then it does mean that if a major problem with Windows requires a reinstall/reformat from scratch of the C drive then the data is retained unchanged.

Yes of course the safest place for a backup is an external or separate internal drive.

Anyone else having the same problem I do. The side panel is so sensitive it invariably opens to cover a lot of what I am trying to read

Done 4 now without any real problem although one oldish laptop took about 3 hours.

The update downloaded last night on my main machine and took about 45 minutes to install perfectly.

I fell out with the National some years ago. Horses being injured or shot for the sake of entertainment I finally found repugnant.

I’m with you on this. Another this year again.

                    So be it

If you don’t oppose the Russians now it will be worse later. All the things you mention would be easier and more likely if we just sit back and let it happen. I dislike Trump intensely but on this occasion he has got it right.

I have just completed 9 machines without any major problems. The only small problem with one machine was an error on the cumulative update but clicking on the “Retry” link sorted it. Maybe it was caused by the fact I was updating 6 machines at the same time on the same connection.

So how do you propose to create this situation where peace is established in Syria.

Sorry to disagree with you but the use of chemical weapons is banned by international law so do we continue to allow this tin pot dictator to flout this. I wish there was some other way to solve this situation peaceably but I can’t see one as Assad and his father before him are ruthless killers of innocent people. Continuing to appease him will only lead to greater loss of life in the long run as Chamberlain/Halifax found out. I appreciate there are risks in opposing Assad/Russia but unless the west holds firm this will only carry on to more annexations etc.

By the way I am not a right wing militarist, quite the opposite in fact but I see no other option to drawing a line in the sand.

I had a similar one today saying it was from My Hermes and that they had delivered my order to a neighbour. I actually contacted Hermes as it looked so genuine and they confirmed it was a scam.

I think you mean Kuching. If so I can thoroughly recommend it. I spent 2 years living there in the 60s and they were probably among the best two years of my life. I still have contact with friends I made there.

Looks pretty good value to me particularly as it seems to have 4 hard drives already installed to give RAID.

                                    Hi Wasbit

Internet needs two connections. You can’t have a circuit without two. Can’t explain the situation you describe with any confidence. It may depend on whether you are connected by ADSL or Fibre.

It’s probably fortuitous you weren’t attending the Marsden on the day I visited the Breast cancer unit for a check up. It was to follow up a scan that showed what they thought was an enlarged lymph gland near my left nipple. The best way to find out exactly what it was was a mammogram or similar test, at the breast cancer unit. You can imagine the faces in the waiting room when the nurse called for Mr John Davies!!!

I had a similar left breast tumour back in 1965 whilst serving out in Borneo.  Quick trip to Singapore, quick op and never worried about it again and that is over 50 years ago.

Really sorry to hear the poor result but I can say that the big C can be beaten and you certainly show the strength of character needed. Will keep thinking of you while you recover.
