That was many years ago.
To be honest what company has not nicked software from another over the last 20 years. That is why there have been so many court cases.
Hi all
Thanks greatly for all your inputs. I am not prepared to waste more of my and your time on this. Getting into autoruns etc on 10 machines is just not time well spent. I will just look in once a day instead of several times and put up with it.
There seems to absolutely nothing common between my Win 10 machines and my netbook running Win 7 which has completely different installed programs and only a minimum at that but it seems even worse affected with continual refreshes without ever stopping. The strange thing is that it appeared overnight on all the machines around the beginning of August prior to which it was fine.
Been through the process of disabling the services suggested by JCD but still the same problem however it seems to have changed slightly in that it does not refresh Page 1 but it then refreshes on change to Page 2 and subsequently on every page change even back to page 1.
In the words of Toya Wilcox It’s a mythterey”.
Tried the Win 7 on the netbook and it continually refreshes the page. As it is slow at downloading (50 -150 Kb/s) on an 80Mb/s fibre connection I wondered if this might have been a factor. It has now been continually refreshing for about 10 minutes and takes about 2 mins to cycle through to the next refresh. On my main machines the download is much quicker so that accounts for the much shorter delay between refreshes.
Is this forum set up to connect to other advertising sites to generate income or something similar.
(a) Yes that is correct.
(b) Yes that is correct.
(c) It happens at my caravan using a Zoom 3G router on mobile data sim. It does not appear to happen when browsing on my smartphone. It happens using a desktop permanently installed at the van and on my laptop, both connected to the router using ethernet.
Just going to try JCD’s idea and just thought, I have an old netbook using Win 7 so will give that a try as well
Hi JCD
Will give that a try tomorrow. Thanks.
I have a Brother colour laser HL-3040CN and am completely happy with it. Reasonably priced consumable replacements are available and I have seen it advertised on the web in the last few days at around £128 which is a bargain.
I can’t find any such setting in any of the browsers. Can you advise where I can disable it (If it is actually enabled).
Hi WoF
It does not happen in the way you describe. I load any page and start to read it and about 100 seconds later it just refreshes without me doing anything else.
So let me get this strait
You only get this problem with Forumite and only after you have logged in ? Can you read posts normally without logging in ?
Only on Forumite
It seems that it happens when I log in. (How do you log out, can’t find it).
Yes I can read posts without logging in.
How long before the page refreshes? Do you have any browser plugins that are on all your devices? Have you tried different browsers?
About 10 seconds.
Yes I have a couple of plugins but not the same ones on all browsers
No I am not using a proxy server.
I still have the same problem on 3/4G while at my caravan.
Still having this problem on all browsers and now of 5 machines. It is driving me crazy as every time I start reading a topic it refreshes and I have to start reading again. A real disincentive to use this forum.
Anyone got any other ideas.
I don’t use a paging file as I have SSDs throughout so it is disabled.
Sorry Boris
I assumed that people had read the blog link in Richards post above
Thanks for that Richard. The explanation seems valid. I always use KFR to create new Docs, Pics etc folders on a different drive partition so I can reinstall Windows etc without risking data loss. Luckily for me I do always move any existing files in the default folders to the new locations and then delete the default ones anyway.
I guess I will also wait a couple of weeks before doing the update.
I wasn’t disputing the reasoning only the statement.
Why should the police be responsible, free of charge, for your lost property
It is not Free of charge. The police are financed by government and council tax to perform their duties.
Personally can’t really see the difference between a referendum and a general election in terms of expressing a political preference. We generally elect someone who represents out political feelings in terms of a specific party which most represents us. The problem at the moment is that neither of the 2 main parties has a clear policy which is agreed across the whole party. the Lib Dems are the only party united in their view. In the circumstances where the two main parties are completely split and thus even a change of government will resolve nothing. In those circumstances a repeat referendum is the only way to resolve the issue based on the deal available at that time.
Personally I can’t see any valid reason for not holding a second referendum when the facts are known. I can understand why the Brexiteers are against it as their original victory might be overturned so are fearful of a rerun so I find it hypocritical for them to keep spouting “Democracy”. Situations change in life and so do people’s opinions so why are they scared to put the decision back to the people when the final deal information is available.
That’s really strange Alan. Have you tried an ‘incognito’ tab? Clear cookies and all that jazz?
Thanks for the response. I doubt it is cookies as it happens on 3 different machines but I will try it. Never thought about incognito mode but again will try it and revert.
It seems that I am now unsubscribed as I unticked the box on making the above post so it seems that just unticking and pressing Update does not actually unsubscribe you.
