My New over grown and bloody huge Allotment
As you can see, it’s right mess. But, for £30 a year it’s a bargain. I am having to do everything by hand as I can not afford the machinery to get it done any faster. I did grow a few turnips, but other than that it’s just been a case off tidying it up. It doe’s have the following though. Fig trees, gooseberry bush, black current bush, Raspberry and Blackberry “Brambles”, and loads of strawberry plants. And hanging over my boundary are apples and plums. And now you see what the generator is for. I am just going to update the blog with photos as I go along and add any info of interest.

I let the turnips get a bit fresh and some water but the main thing was make sure I had enough pictures of my trimmer to ensure I ordered the correct carburettor for it and I did and the engine is now sweet but I need a new head assembly replacement for it now.

As can be seen in the pictures I have started turning over a large area of the allotment. In my hut I have tea, coffee and pot noodle alliances plus two broken down lawn mowers at the side of the hut begging for a tinker.

We’ve spent the last 18 months doing up our garden – converting it from the dog playground that it had become over the years that we were doing Home Dog Boarding. It’s been a journey. I’ve been doing the design and layout – ( read putting the wife’s list of requirements down on paper and negotiating out any that weren’t in any way practical ) – we reached a happy compromise!!
I’ll sort out a few before, during and after photos.
Hi Lee, all my photos are in Google Photos. I’ve tried to get them into this post multiple ways but they don’t appear. The old forum had an image button to get a picture into a post – also an edit within the post box for when you thought of something additional after posting.
The only way that I’ve got them out of GP is into an email but can’t copy from there to the forum post box. I’m stumped. How did you get your allotment photos in??
I’ve even tried the WordPress Add Media, but they don’t add in after dropping the photo.
Looked at this process but don’t have either WordPress or Jetpack!!

Hi, Your thinking of the forums, not a blog post like this. You need to create a new topic in the forum. If you want me to add the pictures with some text you could send me them, or you can create a post like this if want to try.
I’ll give that a try, cheers. In my head it’s just a different Forum, Never really got into Blogs, ( except for Vlogs on You Tube ) and that was always just watching.
I’ve been getting a lot of garden tools and hand tools for doing our garden at stupid prices on a Jobalots website. They re-sell Customer Returns so you have to be a little circumspect with what you buy as there really is no return policy, you bid at your peril. A lot of things are from Amazon and have a link to the Amazon page for better details. I’ve had a few electrical items that I got working, but some that I couldn’t get to work, but you may have better success than me, but it is a risk!!!😱
I’ve had £30 Garden Furniture covers for a couple of quid plus tax and postage.
For your Handyman job ( good luck with that by the way ) they have a DIY & Tools section. A lot of things are from China, as you’d expect from Amazon, but I’ve had lawn rakes, compost rollers – it came with a dent that I knocked out, it works fine now – drill bits ( hex and SDS ) pumps and filters for the pond, and they have worked. Sometimes they do multibuys so I reckoned I could make one working version out of two or three, plus spares!!
It’s called Jobalots – might be worth a look.
I will do, thanks. Sounds interesting. Just got back home from a 2 1/2 hour job. Pub for a couple, shop and bed by 6.
Wishing you and all Forumites a Happy New Year, hoping it’s better than 2025 – a low bar, I know!!
