Forumite Points: 0We purchased a JVC KD-X342BT Car Stereo (X Display from Halfords)
Using a Huawei P10 lite smart phone to play music to the car stereo via Blutooth.
When each track starts, for the first few seconds the track keeps jumping/skipping.
After that, the track carries on as normal till the next track.
I can’t find out why
Any suggestions would be appreciated
I am not sure if it’s the stereo or the mobile.
The SD Card plays in all other devices including USB in the above Stereo
July 1, 2017 at 11:08 pm #9807Most likely it’s the phone, but to be sure, you’d need to try the phone with another Bluetooth device or try another phone with the stereo. That’ll give you the answer.
July 2, 2017 at 5:38 am #9809I’d lean towards the phone too – and as Jason says mix and match should prove it. My phone (Samsung s5) ran cyanogen for a good while, and bluetooth in the car (pioneer head unit) was very flakey under KitKat, better but not perfect under Lollipop and perfect under Marshmallow. It is now running stock (Marshmallow) and still perfect,
It may be worth deleting your device from the JVC settings (and any other paired devices if there are any) and “forgetting” the head-unit on your phone. Then try re-pairing from scratch – not holding out too much hope but worth a try.
Also worth poking about on the phone to see if there are any settings (bluetooth, power etc) or optimisation apps that might be trying to be (too) clever with (e.g.) power saving on bluetooth. Lastly try the phone in a different position in the car (e.g. move from back seat to passenger seat or it it is dash/vent mounted try moving in relation to the head-unit).
When mine was on cyanogen and was flakey, I gave up and just ran a 3.5mm cable from the headphone socket to the aux-in on the head unit.

Forumite Points: 0Thanks Jason & Blacklion
I don’t have another bluetooth device nor phone, I will have to see if anyone I know has one.
That’s a good idea to try the same via Aux or even try deleting and re pairing.
The phone Bluetooth settings only has 2, Turn on/off – visibility As regards the JVC settings I have read the manual (about BT) over and over, nothing about jumping tracks or settings that may cause it or cure it.
I have tried the phone in different positions, even took it out her handbag with it on the dash above the stereo.
Thanks both, much appreciated for your suggestions, a few things to further investigate.
July 2, 2017 at 10:09 am #9813Not uncommon to have BT problems with your phone. Try this.

Forumite Points: 0Thanks for the link Ed
i will try the suggestions, the first is to try another phone to be sure it’s not the stereo.
I couldn’t find any one with a phone, I bid on a Nokia Lumia, to my surprise I won.
I will try that, when it arrives.
I did try un pairing and re pairing, it made no difference.
I will go through the list on the link.
July 3, 2017 at 12:10 am #9846Seems like a ram issue/caxhe, as if the phone can’t send the song quick enough.
Try clearing the cache of the BT app. I have no idea what it will be called, scroll trough your apps, via the android /settings /apps menu, it will be there somewhere. Then disable, un-install any updates, then re anable.

Other than factory restore I used all the suggestions. At this point the track seems to be jumping (a lot less) for a millionth of a second as opposed to the first few seconds. Maybe getting their at last, I can live with it at this stage.
Duke to add, your suggestion is in the list, yet I still can’t find BT cache.
July 3, 2017 at 9:15 am #9850Try this. Copied from a Google search. Below.
Here are the steps to clear your Bluetooth cache:
1Go to Settings
2Select “Application Manager”
3Display system apps (you may need to either swipe left/right or choose from the menu in the top right corner)
4Select Bluetooth from the now larger list of 5Applications
6Select Storage
7Tap Clear Cache
8Go back
9Finally restart the phoneI just missed the step out on my original post it seems. I’ve highlighted the part that should show you the system files. Think of it like ticking “show all files” in Windows.

I was wrong about a millionth of a second, that was a one off fluke, it’s the same.
I can’t find application manager, whilst looking I came across cache in more settings – advanced settings – memory & storage – storage cleaner – cache junk.
not sure if it’s the BT cache
All cleaned ready to try.
July 4, 2017 at 10:43 am #9885Not its not. It’s not in storage, if you hit the main settings button (either the cog at the top, or the settings app in our app draw)
You will be shown a list of other options. The storage one is usually further down to the app manager section. It’s not always called app manager, mine is called apps and notifications.
See

Once you hit the apps button, you will then need to find the ‘Shaw all system apps” then you should be able to see the BT app
See

Fron there follow the previous post
Yours will look different. It all depends on what version you have, and what the oem have done.
Ive also just realised you have a huawei device. There menu system deviates from most other android implantations. The wife has the P9, so if you haven’t sorted it by the time I’m home, I’ll take a look at her phone, and document the steps.

About PhoneJuly 4, 2017 at 10:52 pm #9891You have ‘Apps’ listed above in that main Menu picture you posted. Hit that.

You won’t see the Bluetooth app

The press the menu button, bottom left (three horizontal lines). You get two options, choose the top one “system processes” or similar.

Then the Bluetooth app will then be visible

Press the Bluetooth app, and you will get this

Press force stop, then press storage, and you’ll get this

clear data, then clear cache, then restart your phone.
On restart, come back to this same menu, and you may need to restart the app, as you ‘disable it’ via force stop’ in its place it may still say force stop, or I can may say ‘enable’ (or solar).
If you have to re enable it, do another re start, (it won’t hurt.)
On the restart, your good to go and re pair to your car.
Before you repair, tell your car stereo to forget the phone. So that you are starting a compleat fresh.
For your car to forget your phone it will be under settings, Bluetooth, devices, manage devices etc..
Eventually you’ll come across a list of devices (or may be just yours if your the first), there is likely to be an option to ‘delete’ ‘forget device’ or something along them lines. Do that.
Sorry if this is a bit all over the place, long day and a few refreshments. Also i had to photograph the steps, then screen shot the photos. So they look bad. Bit should surface.
If this don’t work. Your likely out of luck. Well I’m out of ideas.

Forumite Points: 0Thanks Duke I bet it took some time to create the pics (nice one)
I did the above, on re start it highlighted Force Stop so I left it at that.
I will have a look to delete it in the car (laters)

Forumite Points: 0Sadly Duke, it didn’t work.
I had the Nokia Lumia 520 (ebay) today I will see if the Music skips on that, it came with no charger so it will have to wait.
The plug on the Huawei doesn’t fit the Nokia

Forumite Points: 0I have now tried everything, even contacted JVC, updated firmware on Stereo, restored factory settings on the phone, tried other mobiles (bluetooth – with the same music SD Card-they work fine) you name it I have tried everything.
The same music on the same SD card (even swapped SD Card) play fine on any other player, even now on the computer as I create this post.
I have now contacted Huawei?
