Americans: Over Sexed, Over Payed and Over here, Wat Wat!
June 4, 2017 at 5:19 pm #8522Thanks. I hadn’t looked up when it started. I’ll be watching.
June 5, 2017 at 11:37 am #8606Ended up watching all of it. Music mainly not my cup of tea (but then I’m not a teenage girl) but still enjoyable – quite moving. Even people I don’t normally like (Robbie Williams) had me smiling. Likewise Coldplay. I’d never heard of Ariana before the Manchester attack – only 23 but seems to be a pretty impressive young lady.
Hearing the mainly young girls singing along just underlined what an evil piece of sh!t the bomber was….and of course his mates in London and all the rest.
Anyone missed it its on the iPlayer – link
….worth watching.
June 5, 2017 at 12:43 pm #8610I listened to almost none of it it as soon I realised it was not my musical cup of tea at all.
However, I really applaud all of those who made it possible including the singer Ariana, as I said not my cup of tea as a singer, but as a performer and as a full on human effort top class. She deserves any and all success she can obtain, she has already earned respect for her commitment; on and off stage.
She appears honest, genuine and humanly affected by what happened, though it was hard for anyone not to be affected.
blacklion1725 yes you are right, it was a moving experience and I can only join with you and agree that the bomber and his ilk, wherever they are, are really below contempt.
June 5, 2017 at 12:54 pm #8614I wonder how much they got paid?
A few years back stevie wonder appeared on the Chase Bank concert for hurricane sandy (iirc) and it later come out his was paid $5m.
The wife said he did a televised message last night, my first thought was I wonder how much he eats for that. £50k maybe, $100k?
The wife said the concert was good. She was still on a high from being at the Robbie Williams concert the night before though. You’d think she was 18!
June 5, 2017 at 3:11 pm #8631Robbie is a Williams, same name as myself and we are related through my dad and his granddad. He has to be one of us: daft as a brush, never know what he is going to say next, but always means well. His mum comes from the same town in the Potteries (Tunstall) as my mum.
When my lovely MIL was 93 and slowly dying from a succession of strokes in a Nottinghamshire NHS clinic, my eldest niece was Staff Nurse in charge of the ward she was in. I phoned my niece and told her we were coming over to see MIL. I was greeted by a bevy of people – nurses, porters, cleaning staff. My niece (bless her) had told them that she was related to Robbie and he was coming over to see MIL.
“There you are – Robbie Williams!” The disappointment on every face! Incidentally, the family call him Rob.
Obviously, my niece has the same daft Williams sense of humour and she has 4 sisters and a brother who all share it. When they are all together for a “do” the place is in uproar.
