Fate is a strange thing. you know some times you can feel it biting at yer ass.

So my system went down just as I realty needed it and time was of the essence.

      Anyway next day delivery.

My rig back up and running. I got all my documentation and bollox sorted so I can go on vacation the Egypt.

If you are really off to Egypt for hols, do not forget to have up to date jabs plus anti-malaria pills (you start taking anti-malarials about a week in advance).

Personally I would avoid the anti-malarial mefloquine (larium) like the plague as it has a bad track record of causing depression and suicide. Prior to this becoming public knowledge, the wife and I took this while traveling in a high risk Asian country and it nearly drove both of us loopy! Talk to your local pharmacy about your options and tell them of any other meds you are taking.

I’ve used a few Thermaltake PSUs, they have been just fine. TBH I haven’t had a crappy PSU in years.

After using a GameMax GT300 80+ Bronze TFX unit in my own desktop case, I’ve been using the GP400A 400W 80+ Bronze ATX in larger cases (it’s rare I need a larger wattage these days). Both are £30 and silent and seem well built. The ATX has a nice long 4+4 cable for bottom mount cases too.

I haven’t bought a modular in a while as I use so few connectors, usually just the 24 pin and the 4+4, that the unused cables are easily stowed in the redundant drive bays. People only lose the unused leads anyway.

Yeah, my system went down with a bios warning about faulty psu on the 3v line. wtf, and PC shutting down to protect hardware.

So I am real pleased with the new psu.

Why its fully modular I don’t know and so had to get the valentine out for easy connecting.

This PSU is actuality smart it has a power on off electronic switch to save on vampire power. Gold rated and a nuts 10 year warranty and @ £10 per 100w, so £60.

Interesting, its basically 550W on the 12 volt rail as branded. I’ve not seen that before. it can be a lot less.

There is a couple of things I’m not to sure of wit this new psu. I now seem to have OS noise? and so when I hover over stuff or look like I’m gonna do some thing the CPU fan spins up completely defying the bios settings.

I wonder if windows can hook into this psu or that the mobo just has a head ache from when previous psu failure.

I think a good bios reset may do the trick.

Any way trying to stay be green.

Well, all power isolated and bios battery removed for 2 hours and my system is back to normal.

Who said you could not have mechanical empathy with a computer.
