I’ve been playing about with the Z Fold 3 this morning, bought a refurbished 256GB version on behalf of a mate. £920 in pristine conditon from CEX. It was mint.
I have to say I’m really impressed. I was sceptical about the folding screen and the hinge in the screen annoyed me intensley for a while (Autism is such fun at times!), especially on a mostly white web page.
After a while I noticed that I got used to it and it was only a mild irritant on certain sites.
The main screen/s are brilliant for things like watching videos and reading books, you won’t get full screen on most videos because of the aspect ratios involved but it’s a healthy size boost over something like my S21 Ultra.
The stereo speakers are very good but I’m not an audiophlie so I’ll go no further than that.
The fingerprint sensor on the power button just works, unless your a bit heavy handed and squish it.
Being able to do something like watch a YouTube video on the top half of the main screen when it’s at 90 degrees to the bottom half and then do things like check the comments on the video without messing with the viseo playback is very handy. Lots of clever things you can do.
If the form factor works for you I’d recommend one, no problem at all. If the cameras were the same or better as my S21 Ultra i’d be after one as a Chromebook/phone replacement.
May 30, 2022 at 10:04 pm #69574I have become increasingly peed off with the size of my phone when out and about. However I love the size of my phone as my eyesight gets worse 🙂
But at the price they are? I’ll stick to the cargo trousers with the knee pockets.

Painfully so if you get it brand new.
They are a niche product so will probably always be much more than an equivalent specification traditional form factor phone.

The finger print reader in the power button is quite good – works well on the MacBook and the iPad mini I’ve got, so these are good locations for them in my mind. Certainly works better when wearing a mask than the FaceID that my work iPad Pro has, which meant that the smaller iPad was used more often for inspections during my work over the pandemic.
