Has anyone else tried this disk checking program?
https://www.carifred.com/cleardiskinfo/
It appears to give a little better breakdown than the standard SMART interface, and I wonder if it may be useful to detect pending SSD ‘drop-dead’ occurrences.
February 14, 2022 at 2:45 pm #69204I should perhaps have added that while the SMART for a Corsair disk came up ok, the Clear Disk Info was a warning that imminent failure was likely as the Soft Read Error Rate was unacceptably high. I took my own advice and purchased a replacement today!

March 8, 2022 at 2:01 am #69277Not heard of Clear Disk Info although I have several of their other free programmes listed.
Will give it a try. Thanks.

March 8, 2022 at 7:46 am #69278It appears that the ClearDisk warning was accurate. Unexplained errors disappeared when I substituted a new SSD. I suspect that SSD soft read errors were causing difficulties somewhere.
