So I had my gfx card, put it in, fired up, still the same. I fetched it all apart (ready to send back) came to put the CPU socket (plastic cover) back on. It would’t seem to fit, blime me which way was it, I tried this way that way, no joy.

Now I am thinking have I bent socket pins (is that possible) did I even bend them when first installing the CPU hence I am having problems. If this is the case I have -ucked it what a waste.

      Cheers
      John

        John, don’t panic. Yet.

Can you get a decent photo, maybe a few, of the socket and CPU? Different angles if you can.

I’m sure others with more knowledge of recent stuff will be along.

John, I know how you feel.

My Amazon issues are having the same effect on me.

            Nobody died though. 👍

There is about 12mb used with all these pictures, can you delete them (or this thread)

I can confirm (in daylight) I have -ucked up the CPU socket, bent many pins. Most likely when first installing the CPU as it has never worked. I think the CPU doesn’t have pins so will that be ok or may I have -ucked that aswell.

                          Cheers

The CPU looks ok, what you think.

John, if the mobo is farked anyway, try to straighten the pins? It was possible way back but I don’t know about now.

                              Check before trying!!!!

John you are correct, the mobo appears to have bent pins in a couple of different areas. As PM says, with a LOT of patience and a hard plastic razor shim it MIGHT be possible to slowly and carefully ease them back into place. It is however a very high risk thing to do as you may end up doing something very nasty to the CPU when you try to insert it.

Echoing PM again,  if you go this way check, and then check again before inserting the CPU.

                                  Thanks PM & Ed

The conformation abouyt pins bent as you say in a few places. It’s too much for me even with glasses to try and straighten them. Also I am caggy handed and I suffered paralysis down the left and still have mil;d symtoms in my hand / fingers.

                                  Cheers
