I’ve been running AmiGo from TomTom fro a few days in my Puma. Since Android Auto has been opened up more it’s a viable alternative to Waze or Google Maps but has some issues.

Biggest issue for me is it hates Welsh place names and doesn’t find a lot of well known places even when typed in and spelt correctly.

The other issue is Android Auto related, any nav app randomly freezes the screen. Voice commands mostly work but again it’s random.

I’ve gone back to using the surprisingly good built in sat nav and a dinky USB drive for music. The wireless charging slot is big enough for my phone, just, so that works well. Oddly the B&O sound system sounds a lot better when playing music direct from the USB drive than via my phone and Jet Audio Player.

As of today, it’s a 6 out of 10, updates should fix a lot of issues but stick with Waze/Google Maps/Whatever you prefer for now.

Before android auto, When I go to Europe I always used the Tom Tom overlay map, on top of Google maps, it worked amazing, at giving you the speed limits and camera locations.

So if This one can do that as well, plus be a decent na, I can see it being very good.

I did see the announcement that it was on auto now earlier this week, I downloaded it, but as we still can’t go anywhere am yet to try it out.

Yeah. I had a Mondeo a few years back an the internal Sat Nav was brill and you could talk to it along with other car orientated commands.

          B&O sound system? WTF! 🙂
