We all know China introduced a one child policy in the 80’s and has only recently raised this to 2. But it would seem the now generation still only want one child.

TMWOT it is the 8 billion people on the planet that are causing the current mass extinction event, global warming and so on. Our demands exceed the balance of nature.

So why then does the whole world not adopt a one child policy and why do generalists take the piss out of the Chinese for regulating there population.

If that policy was adopted in the UK, how many benefits scroungers would be rioting? Not referring to those who are in real need of benefits,* but we all know someone to whom the word “scrounger” applies.

I agree that overpopulation is the main cause of human problems, but the Chinese can afford to speak from the viewpoint of a numbers on the ground situation.

Given the average world birth stats are closing in on 2.1, and given we will max out around 100-110 years old (with future meds/tech) . The world population will peak around 10.5billion, then very gradually fall.

As each developing nation educates women, thier choice to have many children falls. This fact has been proven correct every time.

So really we don’t need to make laws on birth numbers. If anything places like Japan, that has a sub 2.0 birth rate, is heading for a economical disaster, so they should place incentives on having children.

This is what makes me smile the economic disaster thing with falling population.

The Humanity pyramid system of wealth.

The population was 2.5 Billion back in 1950. People like Attenborough and the now deceased Duke have seen the word change beyond all comprehension.

I image we would not be heading head first into the mire with 2,5 Billion in the world?????

China did not work out quite as intended.  With only one child per family, most opted for a son, and aborted if a daughter was expected. As a result China has a population with a large percentage of randy males and a dramatically falling birthrate. After 20 years or so the leadership concluded that this was a disaster and reversed their policy.

Well, yeah, a disaster. So I hope that in the next 30 years there population falls to 1950’s levels of Half as billion.

Be strange if they have all the jobs then and we find our next generation emigrating to be a commi.

Mind you Commi Yuri Gagarin did OK being strapped to an ICBM. What a man?
