So the problem is that my north American At&T LG V30 gives poor reception or intermittent for  phone and internet.

I’m on tesco at the mo and so no internet calls for me?

I’m of the opinion that because my phone AT&T is why my signal is often -100 or could it just be because I’m on Tesco sim.

So is cross flashing an option or would a different carrier like o2 be the option.

Tesco Mobile run on O2 so that won’t make any difference. Mobile Virtual Operator List (MVNE)

Flashing a European ROM could be an option but would need a lot of research, Get the actual model number from the phones settings and see what bands it supports. Once you have the bands it supports check which UK networks support them . You can then use the NVME List linked to above to find a good deal.

          Roger That.

I’ve been updating the phone to clock whats going on.

I’m now at Android 9. I do like the look of it.

          Anyway i have moved from H931 20r to H931 30g

I will prat about with it to see if my signal has improved.

I assume you Googled on the subject of using US phones in the UK.

The links I read about adding bands all looked horrendous and started with rooting the phone. They were however pretty old links. Hopefully things have moved on thanks to our being in the EU, as that stopped a lot of the ISP’s restrictive practices which seemed to be the cause of certain bands being unavailable..

            Good luck with your efforts.

It would seem on a google that they are not flashable.

As for adding bands I have not and so will search for that.

              Ty for heads up.

I gave up flashing roms a few years back, when having an open bootloader would kill lots of apps like bankings etc… And today the camera on our phones are more relient on tailored drivers. So once you flash a rom you will end up on basic android drivers and have a functioning but not great camera .

Now I’m not saying this to put you off, just to let you know there are as many negatives (if not more) as there are positives.

But hey, if you can’t get a stable signal, broken features is the least of your problems.

Hmm. Cannot really afford to lose my phones multi media capabilities.

So I think a step in the right direction is to get off tesco mobile and just switch to another that allows wifi calling.

I checked this out for my son some time back and one gotcha is that some networks only allow wifi calling on their contract phones. :negative: Recent ( ish ) run through HERE

It’s not such much their contract phones, as ones that have WiFi calling due to their o/s or app that they don’t have to supply.

Three used to have their own app (which I used) but abandoned it when Android started to bake it it.
