I am trying to make a backup of a W10 PC that I built for a friend – it’s back with me because of a faulty Antec case switch now resolved.
As an aside I recently backed up another W10 PC (see W10, the sequel) and eventually did it – but then I remember in the BIOS of that PC seeing two entries for the same HDD – from memory and entry something like P0: and UEFI: – the only way I could get the PC to boot was to alter a setting in the BIOS so that the UEFI HDD setting was visible. Backed up OK and booted.
With this PC there is only the P0:WD HDD option available – so setting the BIOS to boot from the DVD, inserting an AOMEI disk, all’s well but it fails to see the external HDD to back up to. I know the HDD is OK as I backed up onto it a day or so ago.
Just checked the ext HDD on my own PC and can see all files thereon.
Can anyone please enlighten me on why AOMEI apparently fails to see it – the mobo on the PC to be backed up is a Gigabyte GA-B150M-D3H DDR3 Skt LGA 1151 VGA/DVI-D, HDI, MATX.
Many thanks, Dave

April 21, 2017 at 4:00 pm #6547PS – The ext HDD is in an Icy Box enclosure, 1TB WD HDD NTFS partition.
PPS – can anyone please tell me how you can edit your original post?

April 21, 2017 at 8:47 pm #6577Seemed to have resolved it – I downloaded the latest edition of AOMEI onto my own PC and then onto a USB stick which I installed under W10 on the PC needing to be backed up.
Doing that now and it seems to work.

April 22, 2017 at 4:19 pm #6629Dwynne: there is an “Edit” button next to “REPLY | QUOTE” at RH side of the blue bar above the words in your Post. Only you can access that, I think.

April 23, 2017 at 7:16 am #6661The edit button disappears if anyone else has posted to the thread after you. It also ‘seems’ to be on a time-out either that or it disappears if you navigate away from Forumite*. I’ll admit I have never bothered to fully investigate the circumstances under which the ‘edit’ option disappears.
The disappearing button is not an issue for me but it did take me by surprise the first couple of times.
[edit] navigating away from Forumite does not affect the button, I just tried it!
April 23, 2017 at 7:56 am #666330 minutes later no edit button!
Probably why you have not noticed it Wasbit.
April 23, 2017 at 8:07 pm #6688Just navigated back to a post I made about 15 minutes ago. “EDIT|REPLY|QUOTE all there. Ed, are you saying “EDIT” disappears after 30 min’s (or whatever? I will test that later, but atm it appears that anyone can access and then edit their own posts. I will check later to see if that holds water.

No you’re not, no edit button on my last posts. Makes sense really, can’t have posts being edited after too long. Not a problem: I always read through mine directly after Submitting them, correcting errors/dumb statements immediately.
