Firstly, I am sat at home miserable, with no cups of tea due to no water. For some reason where I am, when someone turns there water off it also turns off 4 other surrounding houses. I will be knocking on doors soon to find out who although two houses are empty so that may difficult.

Anyhow. I will be doing some much-needed maintenance, updates & fixes to the site other the next few days so things may or may not work until I am done. No major changes though.

P.s. I do have 2 bottles of real ale left if I get thirsty.

Some changes being made. Firstly I am going to be stripping back as much as possible of the site and try and make it is less resource hungry. Once this is done I am moving the site to a new server. This is due to the noticeable drop in visitors and obviously costs. I am cutting back on everything I can. I am looking to replace my greedy, power munching PC’s and laptops with something like PI 4’s and lesser models for lighter network stuff.

Anyhow, I will be dealing with this site this weekend so expect some issues and down time.

Its not really about server specs and donations and costs although all three are a minor part of it. I want to just strip it back now so less management is needed. I am trying to get all my ducks in a row so everything going forward is cheaper and just easier.

I’ll be finishing most of it off tonight. The site will have mostly the same things as before but in a toned down and much less resource hungry.

Much easier to work on as well with the dark colour.

I fought you was use in a Raspberry pi 4 or samink (cockney= something).

I could just see it all running out of a shoe box or samink. 🙂

Sorry, forgot to reply. I plan to reply then 5 minutes my head drifts off 🙂

Anyhow, my plan is to get below £1 per day electric usage. Pi’s are the only way I can achieve this. I am going to use a few pi’s around the house to achieve this. But I am also going to build a special pi system into my own custom-designed case with customised components. Something really nice and polished that can serve as everything. That is everyday pc, media centre and server, retro gaming, hi-fi, Freeview, DVD player and so on.

Yes, I’m up to it. Need to get the gear first and lay it out on some cardboard and work out where all the holes are going to be, a template of sorts as it will involve some custom toughened glass.

🙂 Saying that I may consider building one out of some plush wood first. Its should be cheapish to do as I will be using mostly Chinese imported stuff where I can.

Cheers Mark, I have sent a PM back.

@planeman Got me started on this route by kindly giving me a PI ZERO W. At the moment, it is making a nice little media server and just simply works.

Another thing I will be saying goodbye to is my fridge/freezers. That should be easy being winter but hopefully, by summer I will have adjusted to not having them. I will just buy stuff on the day it’s needed plus I have a cold cellar.
