I had my plex app sideloaded on my now box for ages and used it nearly every day and they go and do something like this: http://www.trustedreviews.com/news/sky-halts-plex-side0loading-on-now-tv-boxes-by-nixing-developer-mode

I’ll look out for an alternative now.

March 30, 2017 at 1:26 pm #5667yeah likely to make them lose business not increase it. Alternative to NowTV would be Roku (which will do Plex/RarFlix and NowTV among others. Alternative to NowTV…..not all that much legit, NowTV itsef is pretty good.
Roku’s can be had pretty cheap, the “Three” is still the best UK model, the 4 can be found but is noisy and hot. The new “Ultra” can also be found and is apparently very good. I think even the streaming stick would handle it.
thinking about it not sure if NowTV will run on Fire TV/Stick – don’t think so but if it does that is another option that would also support Kodi.
March 30, 2017 at 1:30 pm #5668I’ll be keeping nowtv as I use it a lot but plex I use that as much to. So no doubt Ill get hold of a roku but before I do that Ill set up a media PC this aft and see how I get on with it. I am finding setting up my remote control on either 10 or linux to be an arse. Only the volume and play button work.

March 30, 2017 at 2:14 pm #5669NowTV displays well on a PC connected to a TV but as you say remote control is horrible.
I actually find the easiest way to control my windows media PC is to use Synergy from the little laptop that lives on a little table next to my armchair. Won’t suit most though.
Its a shame there’s no nowTV addon for Kodi as Kodi with HDMI-CEC works great, and uses your normal telly remote.
March 30, 2017 at 2:17 pm #5670I have found a little bit of software and if works al will be good with the world again https://www.howtogeek.com/247332/how-to-control-any-software-in-windows-with-your-mce-remote/

March 30, 2017 at 2:30 pm #5671I use a Flirc for my media PC when I use it. Works with Windows and Linux and I can use my old Apple TV remote.

March 31, 2017 at 1:50 pm #5689Well firstly I need a bit of help from some one up on old cpu’s but ill get back to that in a minute. I ended up installing Lubuntu on an old PC and place Kodi on it and then the Plex add-on as I had a subscription anyhow. I must say the Plex is better in Kodi than it is on the nowtv box so all is well.
I also installed Lirc which give me out of the box IR remote control “The Basics anyhow” and I had nextpvr running a dvb card on an other box so I added the nextpvr plugin to kodi so I have TV and record. Whats great is that kodi for what ever reason works much more smoothly with a remote than it does a mouse, much more. So all is well now.
So favor I am requesting is some info as I am no good anymore with hardware. I installed all this on an old DC7600.
I have added to this system a 120 gb ssd and a new XFX HD-545X-ZCH2 Graphics Card (ATI Radeon HD 5450 1 GB PCI-E GDDR3 Memory DVI HDMI 1 GPU) .
What I want to know is what is the fastest old cpu I can upgrade to? I have come to the conclusion the best I can do is Intel Pentium D 950 3.4GHz 4MB L2 but if I am wrong can I go any better?
And yes, its good money after bad etc etc etc 🙂 But thats what I do :good: I have an other 10 of these machines. There lovely and quiet and dont half keep a room warm in winter :yahoo:

March 31, 2017 at 3:12 pm #5691AFAIK the best you can fit is what you stated. Pentium D 950 (or D945 – both 4M Cache, 3.40 GHz, 800 MHz FSB, D945 cheaper to run, but the D950 has virtualization technology)

March 31, 2017 at 5:18 pm #5697That P4 should be OK 🙂
Both those Pentium Ds (when available) from CEX are £2.25 plus postage – so under a fiver delivered.
On the bay they are about £12 ??
