Received an email from my CCTV supplier today forwarded from Hikvision: “Mozilla Firefox (web browser) has updated and now automatically blocks plugins. By following the link guide below it will allow you to put it back to working mode.”
There is a link to a PDF on “How to use Firefox v52 to live view Hikvision device” which may be of use to anyone using the Webcomponents plugins with other cameras. I found it works but you must install the webcomponents.exe with a right click and Run as Administrator. The folder you’re looking for in %appdata% isn’t necessarily what they say either, just look for .default.
Unfortunately this is now pushing me more towards IE for accessing this sort of kit as, for all the wrong reasons, it’s much more forgiving. I say the wrong reasons but IMO FF and Chrome are going too far the other way.
