But double-check that day and channel. I can remember how it ended but the rest I can not. I remember at the time I was doing an essay on Alexander Bell for school halfway through. Anyhow, I am not going to look at the results of every game even though I know how it ends. Anyhow, ITV  are playing the full competition from start to finish.

P.S Yes, I need to cut down on my “ANYHOWS”.

Cheers Lee, looking out for that. I miss my footy fix so much!

Me too, really looking forward to it. Need to fix my amp so I can get the full experience full blast through some Jamo’s.  P.s, if anyone as a separate AMP I can buy let me know.

After watching the England – Cameroon game, I was reminded of just how poor England were and how much they underestimated the African team, who were the better team on the day. But also how good then was Gazza as a very young player. Mark Wright, even when reduced to one good eye. Lineker, whose presence on MoTD has become anything from overbearing to laughable at times, was non-stop, covered every blade of grass. Shilton, in the autumn of his England career, so composed and making saves that saved England. And what a bad decision to substitute John Barnes, who was ripping the left side of Cameroon’s defence to shreds.

              I'm out.

Just re read that first post Lee: You were 16 in 1980? I was 35 then and had been made workshop foreman at the garage.

If you knew then what you know now, what would you change, if anything?

For myself, I would ask for a fixed salary, to increase with the RPI or cost of living Index every year. My problem was that I changed from a job and a boss I hated, to one who was married to the lass I grew up across the road from. We were also bikers together (the boss, not the lass lol) until I joined the Army. I took his word, he was a good boss who let me run the place, but the pay had to be fought for every year.

Anyhow ( ) I will be watching tonight, thanks for that. :good:

DOH! Meant “You were 16 in ’96 and born in 1980?”

Not quite senile yet, but getting there. 🙂

That don’t make any sense. I have confused my self now.

I think it must have been the world cup I watched and remember

Born in 81 would make you 15 in ’96 Lee. Nearest World Cup would be USA ’94, if you were 13.

First World Cup I watched on TV was ’58, in Sweden. I would have been 13 then, watched the games on a 19″ (I think) TV at the Scarborough B&B where we always went on holiday. Near Peasholme Park, in the shadow of a cliff. The picture looked as if it was snowing all the time, but I thought it was magic: we didn’t have a TV at home until the year I left school in ’61. My dad hated the telly, wouldn’t have a colour set for years until I told him he could tell snooker ball and football shirt colours.
