A silver surfer I support called me up. User has 2x Lenovo R500s and a mifi. They are 100+ miles away.
Their bookmark for finding out their remaining data allowance now directs them to a 3 page asking them to login.
This change has happened in the last two or three days.
Anyone got a link? I suspect 3 have moved the goalposts.
TIA.

Now that Talk Talk is all unlimited (land line this is) they have removed there usage monitor altogether. This saddens me as I use to like seeing of obscene amounts of date my house guzzles.
As with the two mobile networks we use EE, terrible o life site, t-mobile was excellent, and Giff Gaff, the best online network, so simple to port numbers to new card in one click of a mouse. Not like any other I’ve encountered, but both networks show your usage once you log in and tell them your account.
GG though send you an email at the end of the month telling you of your usage the previous month. I get all the kids usages as I pay and manage them, it’s helpful as I can see if I need to increase or decrease that they with GG help. They want you to feel like they are looking out for you.
Also on the same day, I got an email of EE saying price in great by 2.5%. And one from Giff Gaff saying we are now giving extra mins and data to all tariffs. I know which provider I like the best!
February 20, 2017 at 2:30 pm #4172Steve, It’s a PAYG SIM. When the data was low, he would buy another.
His bookmark worked without logging in. Now it doesn’t. This means setting up an account each time a SIM runs out.

does suggest you may need to register to be able to monitor things. I did find the 3 site a bit like hard work to find anything, can they try a shops to get some assistance?
Otherwise I am sorry I cannot help.

February 20, 2017 at 2:47 pm #4174Doc- So your friend buys a new sim everything it runs out, or tops up the same sim?
You have lost me? If it’s the prior, that seems a strange approach to take, if the latter, one amount should suffice.
February 20, 2017 at 3:05 pm #4176Steve, When they run out, he buys another. This is by far cheaper than topping up. He only uses 1-2GB a month so contract is not an option. Richard’s link shows prices. Eye watering.

I thought that maybe this was what he was using;
£30 for 12 months did not look so bad as that would give about 1 gb per month at £2.5 per month. I do not know how much a top up would cost, not whether you could get a better deal. They do appear to have an huge and mind blowing number of options for which there appears to be no reason except to confuse. The effect on me is to decide that I really do not want to bother to fight the fog any more, it is likely to be (a) wrong, (b) expensive and (c) hard to change. Which is another reason why I continue with my old phone. With the new car it appeared that something more modern might be more useful but sorting out what, became something of a nightmare. At the moment the local roads in the village are an even worse nightmare, I just hope the damned mud pie men who keep on digging get their pensions really soon and go into retirement ASAP. Anything more distant can, for the moment go hang.
February 20, 2017 at 3:43 pm #4181His last SIM was 24GB (valid for two years) for £28.40. That’s less than half the price of 3.

Though I guess then ordering the new one would be an issue! ?
I can understand the data thing – MyMemory have Three SIM cards with 12GB data for £23 – here. (Don’t forget Topcashback/Quidco cashback). I was considering it with this for when I was travelling and to replace the god awful connection at cadets but Three doesn’t get a signal in the cadet office. Travelling between Manchester and London in the future it could be useful but equally, I could plug my phone into my laptop and do things like that so it’s hardly worth the initial outlay – I may crack when I move house and have no internet for weeks…

I thought that perhaps they had been using the 3 service. I guess that his 24 GB SIM for for £29.40 was a very much closed and no longer available offer. As I said the range and more especially the complexity of offers appears designed to confuse and to many of us lesser morals is an incentive not to bother to do anything. I share with your users the use of an older Nokia, I tried a more modern couple of Nokias, both were touch phones and for me totally useless, no voice calling, I gave them away to my wife and daughter.
February 20, 2017 at 4:09 pm #4186EE move goalposts to another pitch, miles away! SWMBO and I have always been able to access our accounts on this desktop, her laptop or either phone, just using the phone number once registered and setup. This week they decided we needed to do it the hard way: input email address and password as well. Fine, I thought, did that on the phone. That’s not your password, they said. Oh yes it is, it’s the only one I have, tried again. Not you. Went to the desktop and registered: password worked. Anticipating the same problem, SWMBO tried to access hers via the laptop. Not your password, 3 times. She tried her phone, same password, it worked. I am just waiting for my current PAYG funds to end, then I am going to try a Plan with someone else.
Richard, I share your village access pita, in spades. (Pun intended!) Every year, our District and Lincolnshire County Councils decide to use up their remaining Highways money before the April cut off. If they have any left at that point, next year’s budget is cut by central government, by that amount. This year they have had a gov windfall of extra money and an orgy of road mending has commenced. In a coincidence that no one could make up, at the same time, Anglian Water are attempting to find the reason for a loss of pressure across the district and THEY are removing bits of Linconshire. Meanwhile, the continuing work of laying hundreds of miles and building several sub-stations, to accommodate the more efficient transfer of windfarm power to the National Grid, goes on. As it is also the time of year when the big Farm Combines around here are transporting machinery, seed, and huge amounts of sticky, smelly stuff around the county, large amounts of massive agricultural machinery are trundling around and adding their leftovers to the mix. We now have an inkling of how the PBI must have felt in the WWI trenches. No vehicle passing along our roads, is managing to do so without acquiring a coating of dirty brown sludge atm. :negative:

I'm out.February 20, 2017 at 4:41 pm #4190Bob I don’t even log iny EE account. When they merged, the distroyed a brilliant online set up t-mobile had.
Unless lastpass has my ee details, I don’t think I could now get it without calling them, and that isn’t going to happen anytime soon.
February 20, 2017 at 5:54 pm #4195Steve, we were with Orange on our old – tech, non-smart phones and the site was fine. Gradually, EE have completely b****xed it up by making unnecessary ‘improvements’.
