So when the Green team released the 20 series GPU it came with ray tracing functionality. As Time moved on the driver was adapted to use the 10 series GPU and with the low latency driver added recently I decided to give Shadow of the tomb raider another try which can use ray traced shadows.

      My 10 card is the 1070 8GB

Set to medium RTX the game runs all the time at playable frame rates. The rest of the game is set at ultra.

What an absolute winner the game looks fantastic. You can almost taste it, so to speak.

Ray tracing is definatley the future. 🙂

No arguments except from my wallet!

Just for fun, here is the way it used to be done in the ground breaking 1992 game.

Downloading the latest iteration of Quake 2 RTX free on steam.

DSOG ‘R’ over the moon with it. 🙂

Thnx, as I said my wallet is screaming!

Btw thank you for mentioning DSOG. I looked at the stills from the fan remake of LoL and Fable and it made me realise that although it is possible to do a lot of games plant/tree landscaping with randomised procedural algorithms and use of the Turing algorithm it will still need a heck of a lot of artistic tweaking to make it look attractive.
