      Hi all,

I need some advice please – I have a 95yrs old uncle who is on Facebook – neither of us know a great deal about the ‘ins and outs’ of it and how it works – he is able to get along and do things he wants to.

Recently he has been getting some very sexually explicit messages – he does not know how he is getting them – he believes they could be local to his home town – though I don’t know how he would know that. I have had this information from a friend of his who is concerned – as apparently is my uncle.

He says that he has deleted the postings but I would imaging that they are still around his system.

I can use FB and that’s about all – my needs do not extend any further and neither do his.

Question;  What advice can anyone give me so that this can be stopped? Personally I feel he should inform the police especially if the ‘posters’ are local – but would they be interested?  Any help to stop this would be most welcomed.

      Many thanks,

      Dave

If he replies they always send pictures to try and intice you In to the scam.

You need to go into the setting and turn off or on ‘only recive messages from friends’

Its been along time since I’ve been on fb but it will be in the privacy options somewhere. You’ll need to dig around, and set then all to either, only see by friends, or turn to private. It’s quite granular, but they do like to bury the privacy settings as its better for them if your broadcasting everything.

Apologies for the censoring, this is best done from a desktop as I have found that finding the setting on a mobile is not always practical.

            Open Settings

Once your in the last screen, you can edit to your own preference.

            Cheers Knight,
