I guess if you are happy with the way Google slurps up your personal info, maybe AVG and AVast are OK for you. However this report details that they probably even exceed Google in the amount of personal info they slurp.

OK Kaspersky also slurps up data if you use their Internet filters, but it is a lot less.

Never used Avast, kicked out AVG years ago, got rid of Kaspersky weeks ago. I just use Windows Defender and Malwarebytes now. When Kaspersky told me that Mwb was in conflict with Kas, I knew what to do. Had both working together OK for about 4 years, then that came out of the blue. No more Kas for me, the only AV I use now is Defender and Mwb and they work together fine.

What’s more, they don’t hog system resources like Kaspersky. And they are cheaper! Defender built in, Mwb Premium is one price, then annual upgrade.

When the Thought Police arrive at your door, think -
        I'm out.

Dumped all AV years ago, but y’know, locked down Linux.

Arch Linux, on a Ryzen 7 1800X, 32 GB, 5 (yes -5) HDs inc 5 SSDs, 4 RPi 3Bs + 1 RPi 4B - one as an NFS server with two more drives, PiHole (shut yours), Plex server, cloud server, and other random Pi stuff. Nice CoolerMaster case, 2 x NV GTX 1070 8GB, and a whopping 32" AOC 1440P monitor.
