For many years I have been fascinated by the way simple mathematical constructs are used to define the shapes and forms of natural objects. (Fractals). In my own 3D modelling I have tried to use them to make images of trees and plants. Although the mathematics is relatively simple, the results of my dabbling have always been totally unrealistic.
I was therefore quite taken by Grove 8 a Blender add-on which seems to have completely succeeded in contrast to my failures. Unfortunately it is a moderately expensive paid-for program (~ £85) were it a bit less expensive I would certainly have a play with it.
