Dad was out walking the dogs, filming bits on his mobile. When he played them back (the following morning) he noticed a black object just hovering.

On slowing it down the object has moving parts, retracting at the top and bottom.

Watching amother video from the same day (recorded 30 mins later) the object was still there and the parts still moved in/out.

Is it the UFO the american had seen.

Apart from being able to see that it’s changed shape slightly I can’t tell anything else about it.

If you or your dad have better quality footage get in touch with a group in the relevant area. If there isn’t one you could try BUFORA

BUFORA charge £5, probably because of the volume of reports they get.

The local paper might be worth a look to see if anyone has reported something similar.

First pic, appears to have a tail. Second pic, looks like the tail has disappeared. That suggests something like a small remote control rotary winged aircraft (helicopter) tilting nose – forward slightly. With nothing around it to give an idea of scale and size, it’s not possible to decide height either.

Given the time length of observation it was probably a large drone belonging to the landowner or the local police force. (Such police drones are quite common in rural areas to try and combat the huge rise in theft from farms and animal rustling – especially sheep around the time of Eid – mid June this year)

However, you said nothing about noise and such drones are usually quite noisy, but a windy day can obscure this. In this case I’d guess a small bug landed on the camera lens!

Boris it could have been a drone.

PM I can’t tell either, maybe worth contacting BUFORA (thanks for the link)

Bob that sounds more probable, possibly a remote craft (drone)

Ed I asked if he heard it and he didn’t even see it till he played the video.

Thanks for the suggestions it does seem it maybe a local out with the toys.

If I try Bufora and it turns out to be aliens, will I get it back (as such)

Further to reading BUFORA website, it seems to send is to give not inspect.

I think so, the only trouble when they are converted to a managable file (mpeg) size they play sideways. The original 3GP are big and youtube message asks for smaller size.

Your videos will process faster if you encode into a streamable file format. For more information.

Published Use Full Scrren as you watch.

They both go off quick so I play/pause repeatedly and see the parts come out and go in.

On the the first video watch closely at the top, it comes on about 11-13 seconds in.

Looking at the videos, it might be the sun, and it’s overwhelming the sensor. It’s hard to tell if it’s the right direction because of the snow and lack of shadows though.

Where was this taken John? Looks like snow on the ground. The object is blurred, but it does have the general outline of the object seen by the US Navy pilot.

Smashing dogs btw, busy Spaniels. Must keep your dad active, they need lots of exercise and never stop dashing about. I see various Spaniels often on local beaches, they love the sea.

tippon it could be, my observation is on the snow directly level is a Ray of something like light or even lazer.
Bob I think thats what dad wants to think. It’s in the west Midlands over the common.

In both instances shadows from the dogs point to it being the Sun.

I once thought I was filming UFOs when it was dozens of Chinese lanterns flying fast high above my head in small groups in a single line. I was so sure they were UFOs when I was watching them 😀

Yep – it is the sun, unless that ‘ray’ from the object in the second video is a little green man potting a rabbit in the field!
