I just plugged my camera in first time in my new poot front pannel and the camera does not work as it should. What happens is charging and access to storage happen at the same time and so does not work. if I use rear pannel all is good.

This fault only happens to my camera. Gamepad webcam etcetera work good in front pannel ports.

The edit button seems to be on a timer. Can it be made permanent option.

Yeah: looks like its a Sony problem. Erm I will just use the rear USB ports. So no bother.

        Ta. keith.

I wonder what the technical difference is between front and back and how it knows?

Is the front port connected to the mobo via an internal cable? I had a similar problem with a previous mobo and that was connected via a separate cable to another mobo socket. Just a thought, I get them occasionally:)

              Indeed. 🙂

I will look at it again some other time. Wasted 2 hours looking into problem. Ouch.

Years ago I got into the habit of plugging anything that might be power hungry into a rear port, after having a similar problem. Back then it was caused by an under specced cable between the motherboard header and the front port. I’ve got a vague memory of the cable being too thin to handle the extra current, but I couldn’t say for sure now.

Above is a link to the Wiki about USB On The Go. OTG specs may have nothing to do with your problem but the article contains some interesting info on the latest USB cables and devices.
