This problem has returned to my missus’ Lenovo B50-80 and I do not have a clue how to cure it. Happens in a website search box, a Google or Firefox search bar, a notepad, Ms. Office 2016 or Open Office page. I have tried everything I know and am currently awaiting the result from a Lenovo Community Forum question. Has anyone come across this, and if so how did you cure it? This is affecting my sanity.

Ditto, but a loose wiring loom between the keyboard and Mobo causes major issues in laptops.

            Thanks for the replies guys.

Symptoms, Dave: wife will be typing into any search box, website, OO or Office doc, in fact anywhere she needs to type. Cursor may or may not jump to another location, text suddenly jumps and goes up, down, sideways and/or inserts itself in the middle of the text already typed.

Checked the loom Ed, I have the Lenovo Manual for this laptop and could completely strip it if I wished. Nothing out of place or position.

Dodgy Tab or Insert keys?? Eliminate by testing repeatedly to look for errors.

Tested with another external KB JCD: same result. So it isn’t the KB.

Bob did you have the laptop keyboard ribbon disconnected when you tried an external keyboard I had a friends laptop do similar things it worked fine with the external keyboard as long as the on board one was disconnected. Luckily for him I had a spare keyboard to swap his with which solved the problem.

Thanks Mark. I was about to try that when I found that my efforts to disable the touchpad, had not actually succeeded. It kept reinstalling itself! I looked into it, asked No.1 gson and discovered that the way to disable it was via Device Manager , yes, but then go to Mice and other pointing devices – (not HID Mouse) – PSU (?) Mouse. Disabled the latter and SWMBO has now been typing without problems today.

Hopefully that’s it solved. I will hear a wail of despair if it isn’t and it will of course be AMF (All My Fault.) As usual.??
