A friend shared a Facebook ad for a new book with me recently. It’s about an extinction level event and the robots who are rebuilding Earth. It looked interesting and was part of his free starter library, so I gave it a go, and I’m glad I did.

Extinction Reversed is about the aftermath of humanity’s extinction, and the robots who are cleaning and rebuilding the planet, including animals. It’s a fairly fast paced book and is more about the stories rather than the science, but doesn’t go into the daft realms of super technology that can fix everything. It’s got a few nice twists and turns, but nothing too complicated.
The next book is Salvage Trouble, a story about a deep space salvage crew and the problems that they find after one particular job. It’s a bit different to most books of this type, as it’s got wizards and magic too. Basically, scientists gave up on gravity as being too hard to solve and handed it over to the wizards, so they cast spells to get artificial gravity on spaceships. It’s a little bit daft, but it works well. The crew of the ship are your stereotypical mismatched misfits, and they lean towards crime rather than sticking strictly within the law. It’s another fast paced book and is a fun read.
The last book in the starter library is a slower paced book, Firehurler. It’s more of a standard fantasy book, except certain characters can see another world. One world seems to be similar to ours back in the days of pirates and tall ships, while the other world has magic and goblins etc. parts of the two worlds start to collide while one world is going to war and the characters in the other are just trying to live their lives. This was my favourite book of the three, even though it started off a lot slower than the other two, and the potential that it has for the rest of the series is great.
The biggest problem for me is that J.S. Morin has released 45 books over 8 series so far, and the way I’m going, I want to read them all! They’re on Amazon in bundles of four for £9.99 for the ebooks, so it’s not a huge outlay, but I’ll be reading forever 😀
His website is here if I’ve managed to pique your curiosity:
The email subscription page where you can get the free starter library is here:

I got ten emails in total, all from him about the books, then an email to manage the amount of emails sent. Those ten emails were sent over the space of a month too, so you’re not getting constant spam.
Give him a try 🙂
