February 2, 2017 at 12:31 pm #3206I know how they work in electronics. I would be very interested Graham.

February 2, 2017 at 1:05 pm #3208@admin – Lee, should something like this have a section of it’s own. Maybe for info/walk-through’s/articles/how-to’s/similar?? :good:
February 2, 2017 at 1:08 pm #3209If some one wants to submit an article they can send it to me as they will not be going in the forum, they will be going in the article area :yahoo:

February 2, 2017 at 1:16 pm #3211Which article area, where?? – I’ve just had a quick scan through the Forum Index and Home Page, but couldn’t see one. Should I go to SpecSavers??:):)
EDIT – should there be a link to articles of this nature from the Forum pages?? That’s what I was trying to suggest as I couldn’t see one.
February 2, 2017 at 1:22 pm #3213Ive not properly built it yet so its not in the menu’s http://forumite.co.uk/news/

February 2, 2017 at 1:46 pm #3219It will look all nice and pretty once finished.

EDIT – just trying to copy an image of a “Thumbs Up” into the post – seems a completely different process to MM. Still practising!! :yahoo:
February 2, 2017 at 2:30 pm #3225Something that is completely new to this forum as it was on MM – somebody going off topic!!! :yahoo:
Tbh I really like the layout of Forumite now that I might have got the hang of it – a bit uncertain initially but now I’m comfortable on it. Thanks Lee, I will be contributing and hope that more use Forumite.
Sorry for off topic – almost unheard of in the annuls of MM Forums.

February 4, 2017 at 3:20 pm #3318Well here is the article. feel free to move it as required.
February 5, 2017 at 11:42 am #3367I was hoping for a comment by now. Even if you think its rubbish 🙂
February 5, 2017 at 1:18 pm #3369Sorry I did not respond, I did download and read the article, it was a useful refresher, though I am not sure how I would use its information these days. While I was once used to the joys(?) of ISA cards, including those that drove early hard disks – only slightly smaller than the motherboard itself, those horrors, (joys?) have dropped into the back ground of my memory along with MHM(?) and RLL(?) and starting off a disk format by going into debug mode.
It was a timely reminder of how progress was made and how the problems of yesterday become the almost forgotten parents of the easy solutions we enjoy today.
February 5, 2017 at 4:06 pm #3380Hi Richard nice to get a reply. The info in the article may not be of any practicle use now that we dont have to set jumper’s and dip switch settings but it comes under the heading of how it works and nice to know. Oh and i remember run length limited drives and interleve settings too but that really is best fogoten.

Oops that should have been MFM, not MHM, my keyboard typing got the better of me, well something did, not hard these days.
February 5, 2017 at 8:46 pm #3402Graham that is saved in my Downloads for further consumption later. A quick glance tells me that, although it is full of useful information, I shall need some peace tomorrow to try to understand it. More later.
