So far I’ve had a very nice bottle of Jura whiskey, some sweets – which mum and her fella almost polished off before I rescued them, don’t care but I wanted some for extended family members. I don’t do sweets/ biscuits/ puddings anymore.

This was all down to my brother sending messages in the wrong hangouts thread. I love him but if it’s not Apple he has no clue. Even then he asks me for help.?

Getting a top class Record Deck* from son & daughter, clubbing together. Already got SWMBO’s gift: a new Clarke toolbox and a wee trolley to tote it about. I have no idea what else I will get from family, but youngest G’daughter has great imagination: last year it was a pricey bundle of posh socks, with crazy animal designs. I always smile when I pull a pair of them on, she is a star! Son never knows what he wants, so I noticed he had “Stationary Engine” mags stacked up and falling over. So I got him 1 of the older, smaller Binders and 2 of the latest, larger ones. That is his passion, he builds, sells and shows them with his mate, who has an old Bedford flatbed, rebuilt to Concourse standard. They will be gearing up after December, for the Shows they want to put on in Lincolnshire and further afield.

*More bells and whistles, connects to almost anything. As long as it records my vinyl with clarity better than the old Ion USB contraption, I will be OK.

I asked for new thermals for the footy. For 20 years I’ve worn my olive green thermals I liberated from Her maj. They have either shrunk or I’ve expanded. Probably for former ?, I blame for dryer. Lol.

Other than that I’m good. Also this Xmas has been relativly cheap in comparison to years gone by. Though at one point we had 5 children to buy for, 3 of which teens. Now it’s really just one child, one teen, and 3 adults.

The girsls are always cheaper than boys I’ve forund, and thd one lad that is a teen, gets his fassion sense of my dad it seems, and isn’t interested in names what so ever. Totally differnt to his elder siblings. So even buying him clothing is cheap. Well giving him cash for cloths is very cheap. Ad to that we have pc’s, and ps4s, they have phones, so Xmas lists was short.

My girl just wanted stiff like slime, makeup, and cheap tat. They most expensive single idem was a Google now for her room. I can reacall one Xmas costing me a pc and a ps3, when pc’s wasn’t cheap, and ps3 wad about 700 with a couple of games. That’s before you start on lesser crap.

So Xmas has been decent this year. Though I suppose the older kids now get more thourgh out the year  on loans, that I never ask for back, like help insurance payments and rents etc..

Aprart form the Google now, I don’t think any tech has been asked for. Though the wife hinted at the new Google now with a screen for the kitchen. Though I think I’m too late for that, and will wait for Jan to see if it drops.

My old mate Sue is a silversmith so she’s made the Mrs a Russian wedding ring, it’s currently in Edinburgh being assayed. Probably due to looking at too many old photos, this year I’m getting a leather biker jacket but not the bike to go with it. Wouldn’t mind a trike though (it’s not going to happen).

The kids are all adults but the boys still want Steam vouchers and my daughter things I don’t understand. They will all be here for the main festivities and they still insist we hang up their stockings they’ve had since they were tiny. The contents have changed a bit, but there’s no way a bag of chocolate coins could be left out, this year it’s credit card sized power banks.

Christmas Eve evening will be everyone (except the Mrs) preparing the veg for the big day and drinking obscure alcoholic drinks. My recent trip to Amsterdam was invaluable this year 😀

The Jamesons, YES. I get one every Chrimbo, takes me at least 3 months to drink it.* Usually our New Years Eve ends with just SWMBO and I having an Irish coffee, lovingly made by me. Triple measure of Jamesons, 1½ teaspoons good coffee, 1 or ½ spoon of Demerara sugar to taste, add boiling water, let it settle, stir briskly, add fresh cream.  This year we are invited to a party at gdaughter’s new house, staying in a good hotel nearby. First time out at New Years for a while. I will let someone else make the Irish this year!

*a double once a week, sipped slowly. No water, no ice – if you wanted whisky-flavoured water, buy some cheap Scotch!

Must admit I am hoping for a nice bottle of single malt, I have a couple of bottles of gut rotter for mixing. Fevertree ginger ale is really good for that. Worth the extra pennies.

But Jamesons, or any Irish, is different again. I discovered John Powers on a trip to the AST PC factory near Cork (AST got taken over by Samsung way back when). Old Paddy and Bushmills too of course.

If I’m really lucky and they’ve been listening to hints, it’ll be Metaxa 12. Rediscovered at a Greek restaurant in of all places Vienna. Just reminds me of holidays by the Med when the kids were little.

A Scots mate of mine, tipped me off that Lidl’s Ben Bracken  is a really nice single malt that gives the usual ‘Glens’ a tough act to beat. I normally treat myself and number one son to one of these each year.

+1 from me for Ben Bracken – it is my house malt being as we live in Bracken Close 😀

I had some nice Whisky, can’t provide the details as it’s at mum’s, somewhere. 🤔

Had some money which was unexpected so ordered some Lego Speed Champions sets which I wouldn’t normally buy, too expensive for my compulsion of having at least 2 of every set, one to build, one to hide away. Arrive tomorrow. 😁

Also had some SuperDry wash/grooming type stuff in a bag from the extended family, which I can’t use because of my skin issues, brother will use them when he comes for new years.

Must be on a lucky streak.
Won the Xmas raffle at the local club – £50 meat voucher.
Mid summer, started going to the quiz night at the local hostelry, with varying success. Have come first a couple of times as well as last & all places in between. Anyway, won 5 prizes in their xmas raffle.
