Just before Xmas I purchased a W10 Home OEM CD from Ebuyer.

Yesterday I took it out of the packing – cardboard envelope inside a c/board envelope, stuck the disc in and waited – got as far as the the instruction to enter the CoA details which it gave as xxxxx-xxxx … and told me that it was stuck to the rear of the envelope holding the disc – …….. no it wasn’t!!

There is no CoA details whatsoever on any of the packaging except a barcode on the front titled – COA Barcodes.  On the inside of the outer cover there is a list of inst of which No. 1 says  .. LOOK – make sure the CoA label is on the back of the enclosed DVD sleeve ….. it ain’t!!  :negative:

Been in touch with Ebuyer and was told I’ll get an email in due course – nowt yet.

Has anyone come across this before?  Both envelopes are clean and show no signs that any sticker has been removed.

You’ve probably done this anyway  but check through all the packaging, apparently they aren’t always where they should be.

Is the CoA barcode an old style barcode, or is it a QA code?? If the latter, it may take you to a webpage with codes?? (Grasping at straws!!)

If the invoice was on the box it came in, it’s at the tip!! There’s only 2 pieces of packing – the outer cardboard envelope sealed with a red tape at the bottom edge and an inner envelope which contains the CD/DVD and which is sealed at the top with a circular piece of clear sticky plastic.

I MAY HAVE FOUND IT – on the front of the inner envelope where it says ‘this is not a COA’ to the LHS a there is a small key figure which is overlaid with what appears similar to the ‘grey rub it off with edge of coin’ stuff found on a lottery type ticket!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nice one Microsoft! To err is human, to put a CoA like this is totally stupid.

These days it’s a lot easier to just buy a key then download the software.

                A lot cheaper too.
