Just wanted to say thank you to @D-Dan for the network card 🙂

I’ve had it running for the last few days, and it’s been great. I’ve had a chance to give it a proper work out today though, as I’ve been remotely sorting out other computers at home since switching to TalkTalk. Connected as usual, and decided to test it against the USB card I’d been using. Both have performed well, but the USB card was bogging down now and then and slowing my computer. Switched to the PCI card, and the problems just disappeared. Both claim to be connecting to the router at the same speed, but the difference using VNC is like night and day. I’m going to bed in a good mood for a change – not stressed from trying to guess where the mouse pointer is 😀

You are very welcome. Better at your end being used than at mine in a box of spares.

As for the difference in speed between that and a USB device, it’s hardly surprising. The bandwidth over USB is limited, whereas bandwidth over PCI is much greater, and so I expect a PCI card to behave better.

Glad it sorted things out for you 🙂

Arch Linux, on a Ryzen 7 1800X, 32 GB, 5 (yes -5) HDs inc 5 SSDs, 4 RPi 3Bs + 1 RPi 4B - one as an NFS server with two more drives, PiHole (shut yours), Plex server, cloud server, and other random Pi stuff. Nice CoolerMaster case, 2 x NV GTX 1070 8GB, and a whopping 32" AOC 1440P monitor.
