I recently switched to Talktalk for my fibre, and it was due to go live today (4th). My internet hasn’t gone down, so I haven’t swapped the router yet. I just got an email at 1AM on the 5th telling me that there’s been a problem getting my services up and running, and they’ll let me know if this affects my go-live date ?

How do I tell them that my go-live date has already passed? ??

Good luck – phone your local CAB they have more problems with TalkTalk than any other ISP!

Probably a waste of time telling them anything. As part of my broadband deal I was given an ‘essential sim’ free of charge which is designed for light users. In April I was assured on ‘on-line chat’ that as long as I remained a broadband/telephone customer the sim would remain free. Since September they are now charging £3 per month. (Still good value but that isn’t the point).  I phoned to complain and spoke to a lady in Durban SA (!) but of course got nowhere.

The changeover relies on open reach, (over reach?) and it is down to them to say when they can/will do the job. If the internet service preventer (ISP) comes up with a best guess idea but the right date is the one OR confirm and TT should have told you when it would be. I was told by my ISP that it would be on the 13th on one set of papers and the 15th on another. When I questioned the difference I was told that the 15th was the OR date when the work would be done. It was the right date and duly things happened on that date. I guess that TT ‘forgot’ to pass on the details. It might get done today or perhaps next week now that it is getting later in the day. TT should know, if someone can read the papers.

Tell them they’re breaching their contract and you want out – ask for a PAC number, you don’t have to use it, but you’ll be on to their “leaving” department who have lots of options open to them to induce you to stay.
