@bdthree – Lee, I’ve been having some problems recently and I don’t know whether my keyboard is playing up or my figers/eyes. ( I left this one in deliberately – also a ptroblem – as an example ) . Mostly I’ll correct them, but sometimes miss them. The red underline for mistakes would be useful. I’m getting the spelling wrong, ending up with i’s instead of o’s, y’s instead of t’s and a few other misplaced letters.
I’ve been looking to activate the spellcheck on posts, but can’t find it. Is it there at all??
Cheers
September 28, 2018 at 10:12 am #26514No there is not one. It’s browser thing. You can download dictonaries for your browser to do the job.

September 28, 2018 at 10:13 am #26515Cheers – I’ll check that out.??
September 28, 2018 at 10:45 am #26516Strange – I’ve tried two methods, one add on spell check for Chrome and one change in the Settings/Advanced/Privacy and Security/Use a web service to help resolve spelling errors – Smarter spell-checking by sending what you type in the browser to Google ( not sure about that, it sounds bad, but they’re getting it all already anyway!! )
Neither have any effect on dodgy spelling in the Reply to Topic box.
I have closed all Chrome tabs and pages and opened them afresh.
In the Languages section on Settings, there is a spell check option, but only the English (US) is usable, the English (UK) is greyed out. That actually works, so will have to do for now.
Now that is working, I’ve switched off the web service option.
September 28, 2018 at 10:47 am #26517I had the same problem with chrome and uk being greyed out and it was an easy fix. The problem is I have forgot what the fix was. I have to do it again so ill do it shortly and see what happens.

September 28, 2018 at 10:52 am #26519Did you click install language first and then below that select it. And then I am guessing restart the browser. See Pic:

September 28, 2018 at 11:10 am #26520So what I have done in chromium is highlight a word “J NJNN ” misspelled like this and gone to spellcheck and selected check the spelling of text fields. Oddly the option only show if a misspelling like above is used that can not be guessed by chrome as any other word. 🙂

September 28, 2018 at 11:30 am #26523It showed English and English US, so I thought it already knew the difference. Installed English UK and the option to spell check in English UK came up.
Realise (UK) now shows correct and realize (US) shows wrong.
Cheers Lee.
September 28, 2018 at 11:32 am #26524? Should be able to remove everything but UK English now.

September 28, 2018 at 11:33 am #26525Why do you need to highlight it Lee – don’t you have the “Check the spelling of text fields” ticked??
September 28, 2018 at 11:37 am #26526Should be able to remove everything but UK English now.
Removed English US and moved English down, leaving English UK at the top of the list for language and spellcheck.
Thanks?
September 28, 2018 at 11:47 am #26528That’s one less English US convert in the world ?

One down, how many billion to go??
September 28, 2018 at 12:30 pm #26532I think everything comes with US English installed now. “Z” where “S” should be all over the world.

September 28, 2018 at 1:23 pm #26534Yes Lee I found that to be true for most sites, apps and programmes. I have the red lines on my offerings here, I just bash away and type it all, then go back and correct spelling and/or grammar to my preferences, clicking “Add to Dictionary” but can’t remember how I did that.
I don’t particularly care about Yank spelling and grammar: English is a beautiful, living language and the mongrels across the pond are to be pitied for their efforts to ruin it.

Yes I knew that JCD: I meant that I did not recall how I originally set it up.
