My old man (dad to those younger ones who don’t get that) was born out of his time. Born in ’37, but a lifelong lover of Al Jolson. Similarly, I was born out of time, and despite being a baby boomer of ’64, my first love has always been the 50s. As a teenager, I sported an immaculate, greased quiff (remember hair?), and when I married, I did so in a tailor made 3/4 drape suit, complete with drainpipes and winklepickers (my brothel creepers were for day to day wear).

Fast forward to 2018, and I’ve been re-finding some of the forgotten music and histories of some of those artists. Sure, Eddie Cochran, Gene Vincent, The Big Bopper etc. were easy to keep up with. They lived and died rock n roll, but some of the less well known endings, such as Rick(y) Nelson, Bobby Darin etc. are there on you tube in nice, short biographies, with the music just screaming to be heard again.

Such a night, and Netflix not in sight. (Speaking of “Such a Night”, gotta go hunt some Johnny Ray down).

Arch Linux, on a Ryzen 7 1800X, 32 GB, 5 (yes -5) HDs inc 5 SSDs, 4 RPi 3Bs + 1 RPi 4B - one as an NFS server with two more drives, PiHole (shut yours), Plex server, cloud server, and other random Pi stuff. Nice CoolerMaster case, 2 x NV GTX 1070 8GB, and a whopping 32" AOC 1440P monitor.
