I came to this forum, after hitting Feedback Button

      Here’s the problem.

When I login I get a notification telling me someone replied to my post, great stuff.

Sadly I seem to get the same notification about the same reply by the same person, when I click it there are no new replies to be. found.

I logout, next time I login I get the same notification. eventually it stops.

I just thought I would let you know, if you don’t already.

I digs the popup about MM and join forumite

John – aren’t you likely to get a bit confused if you have three profiles on here?? – johnbarry, jb and fallguy??

John loves to have many accounts , I think he matches his accounts to the PJ’s he had on.

              Only joking John.  :good:

I couldn’t be doing with more than one accoint, as I’m to lazy to log out.

3 profiles? that’s news to me I have 49 profiles and never get confused.

It makes the member list look bigger.

John I don’t recall a JB profile on here, I had best set one up so your post is then true.

I changed to fallguy on MM and dumped johnbarry, with the bad news of MM I created fallguy on here.

johnbarry joined 2 years ago so I am going to use that and scrap fallguy not sure what to do about the other 47 profiles. you should see my email accounts list that confuses. Thunderbird is getting too long a list they are way down the bottom.

Is 49 a joke? Did you set them up or a bug?

Deleting your account will delete all of the content you have created. It will be completely irrecoverable.

I didn’t delete as it will delete everything.

Only law until we leave the EU. Then it will be up for dispute.

I was thinking of it makes threads disjointed.

That’s not for another 2 years so best stick to the law which reminds me I need a cookie warning 🙂 Thanks for reminding me Steve :good:  :yahoo:

That 2 years will never come, so I’d stick to the law.

Though the law is unworkable on the net, as you don’t have control of your own data once you put it out there.

Twitter’s t&c on account deletion , says you can delete all or any content, and it will be deleted off their primary server* so you and the world can see it on Twitter, but Twitter can’t stop or delete your data that has migrated off Twitter.

*The primary server is a good choice of words as they need to keep a copy of all trafic for up-to-date 2 years, depending on the contry you preside in. I think taresa may just brought in 2 years for here, it was 6 months.

So really you should keep an archive of all data in a safe, place, as if one of us turns out to be a terrorist etc, you may get a knock at your door for you to hand over the forums records.

I’ve never actually thought of this regarding forumite , but you really need to look into how long your (as I’m you lee) need to keep hold of records.

How big is a snapshot of this forum? If I was you just to me safe, I’d take a weekly snap shot and archive it, on a couple of drives , not in the cloud. Not in the cloud as if some one left, and deleted their contend then a snapshot leaked, you would then be on breach of the data protection act. Which is taken seriously.

But start taking snapshots, at least untill you have some solid advice on it. Don’t just take someone’s word for it. Saving an archive and not needed it is better than not saving it and needed it. Especially as storage is cheap, and I bet a compressed snapshot is small. I’d also encypt you drive with truecrypt or its replacement varacrypt.

I still use TC, it’s good enough for all but a government agency, and your not going to say no to them, so I never moved from TC for that reason.
