So is it possible to track some one with their mobile phone (number).

Some odd things been happening with my main customer.

Could they track me with my number or via text?

And if so how to stop it?

Unless they have sneaked some GPS tracker app (or you’ve inadvertently shared your location with them via Google maps), it can be done but not by the normal person. Some info.

In theory your network provider could track you by your number. Or theater you EMUI number. But not a person.

You can easily track people via their phones, but your need to either grant than access, like in Gmail or a 3rd party app like glimps (great app). Other than that your would need to get hold of your phone, install an app then hide it from the app menu, or grant themselves access on your behalf.

If you have any suspicions, a simple factory reset, and then check your Google maps isn’t betraying you.

Guess I’m ok with my windows phone then.

              Paranoia over. 🙂

I’d image you can be tracked with that also. Given the state of the app store when I last visited, I’d be careful.

I’m sure there will be ligit apps to for you to share locations. As it’s a super handy feature.

Your browser will by default spew back all your location details to any site you visit. Try turning off geo location in your browser if that bugs you. I personally hate it and all the stupid ‘regional’ advertising it spews out as a result.

                    GPS is now off.

Just have to try and remember to turn it back on when I need it. Doh. 🙂

It also picks up your wifi cell tower, and if not using wifi it does an IP location using Google geolocation services.

A great short video from today of Steve Gibson reporting on how a Dutch reporter pinpoint and expose NSA agents and more, just through fitness apps.

Long story short, if you have fitness apps read the t&c’s of the apps/fitness bands, before you agree.
