@RSB – Lee, Jason has just posted on MM so I thought I’d copy it across and highlight it to you.

Not sure if anyone has been contacted directly about this or not, but the forum will close tomorrow and the URL will redirect to Forumite. Also, where should the data be sent, Lee? I’m not sure of the size of the files yet. Is there a cloud account you’d like them sent to, or some other method?

Will you need to prep anything??

No I missed it. Well, not sure how big the files will be but email would be best. Who’s paying for the site dump? Also can the domain be transfered?

Just a thought – would it be practical for an explanation message to be displayed on the page that anybody will see when re-directed?? Just so they know what has occurred and why they are here.

Along the lines of:-

You have been re-directed to Forumite from forum.micromart.co.uk as that Forum, like the magazine, has now closed. Here you will find a gathering of folk from MM forum, and you may even recognise some names!!

I was on it not half hour ago. It’s showing a 404 not found from my bookmark…………..- that’s because it was bm’d to the latest replies page. The normal url gets re-directed.

Edit – I almost shed a tear as I deleted the bookmark. 😥

Yep, it’s gone. When your website gets a page request you get a referal url which is the address of the page than sent you here. A little bit of script could take advantage of that and display a message accordingly.

i didn’t get redirected from mm, just a 404msg.

Nevermind , I was refreshing forum mm/recent and the home page redircted me.

Yep – redirected. Deleted the MM button/bookmark, felt no pain, that part of my life is over. Wiped my feet as I entered the Forumite doorway. :good: :whistle:

Bit gutted about the demise of the mag – enough to keep me interested for very little outlay each week – nothing else likely to make me cough up, already cancelled computer shopper which I can already tell is not for me. But on we go thanks to Lee and his efforts to keep us afloat one here – you are a star Sir!

I also cancelled Computer Shopper, I found it boring.

Luckily I had the 3 issues for a £ trial. 1 issue was enough.

I might have a look at the mags in Asda next time I’m there and see if there’s any thing which takes my fancy.

I’m not surprised! That’s almost as bad as being gouged for £18 for 2 kids mags when my niece and nephew were here last, one HotWheels and the other a Disney thing. I literally almost cried. 🙁
