Well it’s not actually violating it because it as not come into affect, not until the 25th. These people that troll the net looking for something to poke a stick at and gain a bit of cheap popularity make me laugh.

“... the EU-Commisioner for Justice, Consumers and Gender Equality Věra Jourová with the German newspaper “Die Zeit” in which she stated that the GDPR is so easy, even she could implement it, I got very curious and wanted to see how compliant the EU’s websites are.

I think in this case ‘stick pointing’ was a reasonable reaction to a naive boast by the EU spokeswoman.

Imo it was a typical comment by the types of techno-illiterates infesting Governments and law-makers in particular. They only see the easy parts of the problem as that is their area of limited expertise. Form-filling is the easy bit, getting the rest of it compliant can be a bit of a nightmare.

Let’s not forget that a non-business email address is considered personal data, which means no business can send emails to private individuals without consent, since it’s impossible to not expose that address when sending.

Arch Linux, on a Ryzen 7 1800X, 32 GB, 5 (yes -5) HDs inc 5 SSDs, 4 RPi 3Bs + 1 RPi 4B - one as an NFS server with two more drives, PiHole (shut yours), Plex server, cloud server, and other random Pi stuff. Nice CoolerMaster case, 2 x NV GTX 1070 8GB, and a whopping 32" AOC 1440P monitor.

Not just emails Dan. Some companies have finally figured out that their pigeon post address lists also fall into that category.

One (to me startling) omission seems to be PayPal. To the best of my recollection they have not done anything so far wrt GDPR, whereas EBay has! However maybe they just concealed GDPR rights within a Privacy Policy update, and did not bother to draw it to my attention.
