Mens Electric Shaver
I could never use one as they gave me a rash all over my neck, hence not used one for years.
I had a pack of mens electric shaving gadgets, in it was an electric shaver.
I have been using it, I don’t seem to get a rash.
This is my first in over 30 years.
Every time I use it, I am left with a velcro feel.
Do most common electric shavers, do a nice clean shave or do they all leave slight stubble.
Cheers
JohnMarch 29, 2018 at 8:54 pm #18838John, it’s never going to be as good as a well handled blade with the proper lubricant, foam or balm, whatever.
I’ve used powered shavers for about 30 years. I’d have many more scars if I didn’t.
You’re skin will get used to it. Might take a while though.
March 29, 2018 at 8:59 pm #18839Just let your stubble grow – I did in 1970 and haven’t seen my chin since !
Never trust an atom - they make up everything !
March 29, 2018 at 9:13 pm #18841Thanks PM
I have had my fare share of scars, I keep running out of tissue.
I didn’t look at it like that water / balm bath towel
I am finding it less trouble with electric as I don’t need the bath towel. The towel is to dry the blood (save tissue).
So no point looking at other electric shavers.
Boris I did let it grow once, but it drove me insane (and still does) with itching, I like my chin to match my head.
Cheers

My chin also matches my head ?

JohnMarch 30, 2018 at 8:32 am #18887I use one of the cheaper Phillips shavers with the adjustable guards. It’s more like a small hair trimmer than saver. Not had a wet shave in about 5 years.
I grow a beard from october to march every uear then match to octobwr, give my face a number 2 grade about every 4 days.
If I have a meeting or something important. I’ll give myself the number 2 cut, then get the cut throat out to clean the edges up.
I get dry skin from soaps etc, so wet shaving gives me a rash, as a 16 recruit I was made to wet shave every morning, even though I couldn’t grow w hair on my face back then. I could probably of got away with a 6 month shave!
The traditional ‘3 circle’ electric shavers would irritate me too.
I’m now set to have hair om y face forever. If I didn’t have the wife moaning oct to match, id have a full beard all the time.
I shaved my winter beard off last week, but to wind the wife off I left the muzzie on for 2 extra days. Real handle bar job, she was refusing to leave the house with me. Lol, should of kept it.
March 30, 2018 at 4:19 pm #18923I have a Mexican Pete (droopy) ‘tache but wet shave every morning. I used to get cuts and nicks, but since finding Nivea Aftershave Balm (commercial break) my facial skin is not as dry and I don’t need to stick bits of bogpaper all over my face anymore. Routine is: wash face in hot water, leave face wet, Nivea shave gel, wash again in hot water, rinse off in very cold water, dry face off and apply Nivea Balm. Doesn’t sting like aftershave lotion, just cools and soothes and smells nice, not a heavy smell. And I use the cheapest disposable Gillette GII razors, best price is Superdrug for a 20 pack, usually get about 3-4 shaves from each one.
Shaved me ‘tache off 2 years ago, family went ballistic. Wife: “Where’s my old man?” No.2 gson: “What have you done with my granddad?” I had kept the tache since Army days, about ’73 I think. Old cockney CSM Tom Silk once drew a biro mark across my top lip, on parade: “Shave everything below that line by tomorrow, or I will lock you up!”
It didn’t feel like me anyway, so I grew it back.

I'm out.March 31, 2018 at 6:16 am #18956The wife has never seen me without a beard – trimmed close more recently, but still there. Grew it in 75 after I left home in 72.
Her classic description of me was ” the tall guy with the ginger beard and glasses”!!
These days the ginger has gone white, the tall guy is still the same height, but the later generations seem to have grown even taller, and as age has caught up the hairline has started to re-locate from the forehead to the nose and ears!!!!!
March 31, 2018 at 6:33 am #18958I had a beard and some of the most stupid sideburns ever for a while in the 1970s. My brother’s hair and beard give me fair prototype warning of what I might look like now. It is not a good look in my wife’s eyes so best avoided.
March 31, 2018 at 12:21 pm #18966My hair when all of it was still present. was dark brown with a dark red streak off centre. My eldest brother was almost black haired and curly: middle bro was ginger but is now 88 and what is left, is white. He also has dementia and does not know anyone, including wife and his 6 remaining kids. We never got on, but it still hurts to know that.
My dad was black haired, although he had it cut short every week, said he could not stand pit work with long hair. Even after he retired, he still had a weekly haircut. It was almost all black well into his 70’s, but mine started to go at about 65 and just carried on the process desribed by John: “…as age has caught up the hairline has started to re-locate from the forehead to the nose and ears!!!!! ” I inherited my granddad’s hair loss: last pic of him at 71, he was almost bald. Grandma still had lots of dark hair. mam was red haired with the temper to match.
As a result of parents’ mixed hair colour, my ‘tache never matched my hair: it was light ginger and is now what they call ‘salt & pepper’. I have a pic somewhere of me at 18: masses of hair swept straight back, DA and sideboards. I was a Rocker then. Time is cruel!

Where cameras invented back then?
Go for it, it would be interesting and entertaining.
April 2, 2018 at 12:19 am #19085I’m now considering shaving my head as there’s very little hair growing there and it doesn’t look good if over a grade one. It grows so poorly babies hair is much thicker.
I won’t get rid of the beard though, it’s been with me since 1973 except when I once shaved it off I discovered a ‘double chin’ that wasn’t there when I grew it. The wife threatened divorce..
Then again some days I think about shaving it off..
April 2, 2018 at 12:30 am #19087I got bored with going to and waiting in the barbers up until a year ago so I bought a whale barbers shavers, the type hanging up under the counter. Although a bit ruff I just do my head and face with it. So I always have a bit stubble, don’t have to go to barbers, don’t have to comb my hair, don’t have to stand in front the mirror shaving all of which I hated. I wear a woolly hat even in summer if I can get away with it 🙂 And now I have bluetoothe woolly hat all the better. So there is no need to worry about hair do’s any more.

April 2, 2018 at 12:42 am #19089That’s pretty much what I’ve done, except I go down to a number 4. My head’s too lumpy and full of scars to go any lower.
I impressed myself last week though. I had to look reasonable for a christening, so I brushed the top towards the middle, and shaved the back and sides. Short back and sides in a hurry. After a few washes now, I can see where it’s not perfect, but it’s pretty damned good for something I did in the mirror in a rush ?
April 2, 2018 at 12:57 am #19091I think you will find if you do not look in the mirror”Ever” it looks much better 🙂 I don’t use the attachments, I get it has close as I can once a week before the football starts, I have no idea why just before the football on Saturday it’s just a type of ritual now.

April 2, 2018 at 9:08 am #19095Now we’re on the subject of head shavers, my blades went blunt. I purchased an identical (new one-Amazon) I took it out the box and used it once (not much).
I later discovered it was easy to replace the blade (on my old one), so I purchased a new blade.
I then thought to sell my old one (with new blade) and thoroughly cleaned it up (like new).
But then I thought maybe return my new one, I thoroughly cleaned it up and sent a return request, I was asked did I open and use, being honest I said yes.
I was then told
Unfortunately, we are not able to accept the return for reasons of health and hygiene, because you have used the product.
Does this mean I can’t sell the old one (used, but cleaned, new cutter/blade) due to health and hygiene.
Cheers
JohnApril 2, 2018 at 9:39 am #19096You can sell the other old one ( or even the newer one ) as a second hand item, because the purchaser is aware that it had been used previously by another person, and accepts any and all risks.
The new one, if returned as unused would have been re-sold as a return ( unused ) and the purchaser would have been unaware of any previous use. The seller could be liable for any problems caused or mitigated by the “lie”- however unlikely – because he was aware that it had been used. Also selling a used item as unused would be problematic under the Trade Descriptions Act.
