So last night at Aldi I spotted that they are currently offering wireless (bluetooth) earbuds, which I thought would be a useful buy, and at £30 (well, pennies short of) not a bad price, so purchase I did.

Got home, and one of the buds is completely dead, so re-packaged, and took them for replacement tonight. Unfortunately, they have no more, so a quick “Insert your card” and I have a refund.

I can’t speak to the quality of the working earbuds, but the speed and ease of the refund, no quibble, impressed me.

And Amazon wins, since I’ve just ordered a pair from them for delivery tomorrow (couple of £ cheaper and good reviews, too). It was an impulse purchase, that became a “Why have I not already bought some” purchase.

Arch Linux, on a Ryzen 7 1800X, 32 GB, 5 (yes -5) HDs inc 5 SSDs, 4 RPi 3Bs + 1 RPi 4B - one as an NFS server with two more drives, PiHole (shut yours), Plex server, cloud server, and other random Pi stuff. Nice CoolerMaster case, 2 x NV GTX 1070 8GB, and a whopping 32" AOC 1440P monitor.

It is often said that dealing with an issue in the right way is the best advertising a firm can have. Aldi is in the wrong part of town on the wrong side of the nearest town for us, but they do mail order at least some items; we found it useful before Christmas. Their service was pretty good, much better than some established older clothes shops.

Well, I can’t complain about Amazon. Ordered at around 9:30 last night and delivered by 9:30 this morning. Initial tests are good, the only problem being my insanely small ears, but come with ear hooks, so we’re good. The holder is also a battery bank, so can get 4 -5 full charges out of it. I’m unlikely to need more than an hour or two at a go, anyway.

Even so, Aldi. Can’t complain about their customer service in any way, shape or form. And it’s literally the first thing I’ve had to return to them, so general Kudos from me.
