I am defo over the moon. I was trying to post on the “TV Film & Music” forum and listen to Radio Nottingham at the same time, hope I managed to get that Post finished OK. Niece at the City Ground tried to phone me, broke into tears.
This was a game with everything, watch it if you can. The temporary manager Gary Brazil, is the Academy and Youth head coach. He has brought through all the young players from young kids, the team has a very low average age and the team was going for it today. I hope they give Gary Brazil the big job.

I'm out.January 7, 2018 at 6:11 pm #15413Nice Bob, let’s hope for a Liverpool forest final ?
January 7, 2018 at 6:29 pm #15415Up the Forest Bob – great result…..and sounds like a decent game to cheer up anyone who had to watch my lot 0-0 at Shrewsbury beforehand!
January 7, 2018 at 8:41 pm #15420Steve, if that happens I would be extremely chuffed! Might even visit Wembley for the first time in many years. (if fit!)
BL, I think the Hammers suffered from the usual Prem vs. Lower League syndrome: not being used to the ball continually in the air and players trying to bring bigger teams down to their level. I think you will win at home. Listen to Wenger moaning now, music to my ears! Hope this carries on into League form though. I would swop promotion to, and staying in, the Premier League for an FA Cup Final. That is what those kids deserve.

I'm out.January 8, 2018 at 10:18 am #15464wish that was true Bob – West Ham were the team lumping it yesterday, any football was played by Shrewsbury. I’m afraid that was a fairly typical “West Ham Up North Away Performance”. Be interesting to see what a 12,000 crowd looks like dotted round the Olympic Stadium for the replay!
January 8, 2018 at 8:28 pm #15479They should never have left the old Boleyn Ground IMO BL. Surely it could have been improved, along the lines of Spurs? (Cough/spit, pass the bucket ?) Not trying to annoy you, BUT:
Play at the Olympic whilst upgrading Upton Park. I must have been down there a few times over the years, friendly bunch.
(Mostly ?) The most regularly UN friendly London grounds I ever visited, were defo Chelsea, followed by Millwall and (maybe surprisingly) QPR. Even the mounted coppers hated us queueing down South Africa Road and into the tunnels.
Tonight I switched News channels to BBC East Midlands Today instead of Look North East Yorks and Lincolnshire, to get the Nottingham reactions. I discovered that the American scorer of two goals, Eric Lichaj, lives jus 4 miles away from my old village with his American wife. She has always told her OH that he can have a dog when he scores a hat trick, “Forest Wall” supporters site has started a campaign “Get Eric a Dog!” but his missus says a deal is a deal: no hat trick, no dog*. Apparently he wanted to take a penalty, says that Ben Brereton told him to “Go Away” or similar words.
*Proper SWMBO!

I'm out.January 8, 2018 at 8:53 pm #15483I have two west ham questions BL, what is with the blowing bubbles song? To the outsider, its hardly seems inspiring and it’s not intimidating, not unlike Blue moon on Manchester.
My second question, what is with the two super fake towers. To me, they just looked tacky, reminds me of Disney.
January 8, 2018 at 8:58 pm #15484Steve, I’ve sat amongst Hammers fans (incognito, no NFFC scarf, very quiet, was serving down South at the time) while they were in full voice at the old Boleyn Ground. Being in the middle of it really makes the hair on the neck stand up. It’s a very old fan song from hard times amongst the Docker fraternity and goes back before the War I think.

I'm out.January 8, 2018 at 9:37 pm #15485I can defo understand the hairs bit. WHEN Anfield is on song YNWA is something else, Field of Anfield road (Athenry), it does update though.
I also love ‘poor scouser Tommy’ one that took me years to learn, really nothing to do with Liverpool really, but a great song to rally behind, about more aggressive than YNWA. Sadly its some of the old ones that are slowly dying out.
If only i had the internet in the 90s, 2 seconds to look up the words. Me and my mates literally took years, and had arguments over what the lyrics was. There are some obvious wholes in the timeline. Unless we had another Rush pre WW2.
Here it is .
Let me tell you the story of a poor boy, who was sent far away from his home,
to fight for his king and his country, and also the old folks back home,
So they put him in a highland division, sent him off to a far foreign land,
where the flies swarm around in their thousands, and there’s nothing to see but the sand. the battle it started the next morning, under the radiant sun,I remember that Poor Scouser Tommy, he was shot by an old Nazi gun.
As he lay on the battlefield dying (dying-dying), with the blood gushing out of his head,
as he lay on the babattlefieldying (dying-dying), These were the last words he said…..OOOH, I am a Liverpudlian, I come from the Spion Kop,
I like to sing, I like to shout, I go there quite a lot!To support a team that plays in red, a team that we all know,
a team that we called Liverpool, to glory we will go!We won the league, we won the Cup, we’ve been to Europe too,
we played the Toffee’s for a laugh, and left them feeling blue! 5-0!1 2, 1 2 3, 1 2 3 4, 5-0!
