Re my earlier post re VCR to digital media, I have found a new copy of Pinnacle Studio + v9 which I have tried to install onto my W7, 64bit PC. When I have the option to run the .exe file I get a message that I need to be logged on as Administrator to do this. I am logged on as Admin – this is the only account I have on the PC save for a ‘Guest Acct’ which does not have Admin privileges.
I did mange to get round this and ran the setup prog directly but it hung up about 90+% of installation.
Can anyone please tell me how to run as an Administrator please?

January 4, 2018 at 9:19 pm #15259Permanently run a program as an administrator
Navigate to the program folder of the program you want to run. …
Right-click the program icon (the .exe file).
Choose Properties.
On the Compatibility tab, select the Run This Program As An Administrator option.
Click OK.
If you see a User Account Control prompt, accept it.January 4, 2018 at 9:33 pm #15260It sounds like
If you found it out it could be set to a previous admin on your old PC / Windows
that you last used it on. So you will never get it to work on your new setup.
I did read in your other thread, but can’t remember if you have a TV card it could fail it can;t find the type it looks for.
Cheers
JohnJanuary 5, 2018 at 12:21 am #15263D2 – there are 2 levels of administrator. The lower one is the class you are, but no-one can be logged in as the “super administrator” which is what is required to write things to certain areas or perform certain actions.
You do this as a (usually) one time thing by right clicking on the .exe file and choosing “Run as Administrator”. One time as normally this is only for a setup process, once it’s setup you can run it without fuss. If it’s a long term issue you use JCD’s method.
It’s all part of Microsoft measures to make things more secure.
January 5, 2018 at 12:42 am #15264Thank you all, yes I did make the .exe file to be Administrator and got it going but it never ended loading – sp never worked.
I did have it installed on an old PC and the current loading of the disks mentions XP Compatibility so probably I’m stuffed.
It will be cheaper for her to get the ‘VCR > digital > onto media’ via a prof company than me investing in video capture software that I will probably never ever use again.
Thanks once again to you all for the help and advice.
