After I ended my Sky contract, I sent back the Q Box and associated bits*. I am left with the Sky TV remote, pic attached. If anyone has a defective/damaged one, I can send for postage. No batteries of course, for 2 reasons: don’t like sending them and they are relatively heavy, which would increase P&P. If no takers, it will be consigned to one of my “Tardis” bits boxes.

What appears to be a mark on the LH side, is reflection of light.

*When Sky phoned me about returns, I asked if they wanted their Hub back, as ISP’s always tell us at the end of a contract that they don’t want their routers back. The muppet on the phone assured me that they don’t want it. Yesterday I had an email asking for the Hub back, or £30. Fortunately, I had saved the original box.

Another example of huge organisations with employees who don’t know their own company’s procedures.

        Hi Bob,

I would be interested in this – I have Sky Q plus two mini Sky boxes BUT although most of the functions of the remote will work other boxes, it seems that they won’t work the sound / volume. My main Sky is in the lounge and there is one in the kitchen – although the remotes seem identical, one will not activate the volume on the other.

Shame I would have bought the hub off you – was it a mini Sky box?

It’s the TV not mini box / remote I am not sure how it works, I don’t have mini boxes,

I assume you have seperate remotes for the mini box ?

If not and you use the same remote the volume is set for your main TV.

Perhaps you need a different remote and can set the volume for you second TV (mini box) in the settings on your mini box (if you have settings on a mini box)

Home – Settings – Setup – Remote Control – select the type you have then follow the instructions.

If this doesn’t work then shame on you, Sky

          Cheers
          John

            Morning guys, thanks for responding.

I didn’t have a mini box; just the Sky Hub (router) and a Q Box, Dwynne. The remote control pictured is, as John says, the Sky TV remote only. It takes over all functions that used to control your TV with, say, Freeview.

If you follow the Settings John gives, but can’t get it to work, then you can have it by all means. PM me.

The Hub is actually krap as a router: only 2 LAN ports, one of which must be used to connect the Q Box if your speeds aren’t good enough for WiFi, which is actually weak: since taking Plusnet and setting up my 3 yo TP Link 9980, my WiFi is fine throughout the house and way into the garden. When I return home and pass the bungalow in front of mine, our phones ping to tell us we are in range. The Hub did not even reach this room, 2 rooms and a hall away. Router is in exactly the same place as the Hub was.
