This is what my No.1 gson is saving for and it looks stunning, but no price yet:

A Gamers phone, it seems.
He already has a Razer mouse, KB and even an ‘active’ mouse mat. Whatever that is. He says he loves his current 1+1, but if it dies he will buy the Razer, so he is creating a fund. Just in case, granddad. Probably means he will have one anyway.

I'm out.November 2, 2017 at 10:11 pm #13229Looks a great phone, I have reserves on the battery, it may be large, but pushing a 2k screen at 120hz in games it’s gonna eat the battery.
Though you cobble it to 60 or 90hz, but that defeats the point.
Either way I think it’s great, however I highly doubt this will make it to v3. Very likely they won’t make a second.
November 3, 2017 at 8:58 am #13231It’s a beast of a phone, no denying that.
I like it a lot. A bit of digging and it seems it’s £600 PAYG (+£10 top up).
If it wasn’t for Christmas coming I might be tempted.
November 3, 2017 at 12:03 pm #13232Gson #1 is currently looking into the battery life, but today I have to take him for a blood test, his Thyroid and heart problems are flaring up again. This is the Aspergers lad who managed to get himself a network engineer job, almost 6 years into it now and doing well. His problem is the same as most Aspergers sufferers: he is a slave to work, only does work and home and his physical health suffers for it. I am dragging him out for a walk this weekend, along with his male cousin who has similar issues, never leaves his computer alone when not at work or college. Their respective sisters are very active, it’s a bit frustrating.

I'm out.November 3, 2017 at 1:10 pm #13234Hope all is OK with you GS bob. Today I have the kids at the eye clinic as they need testing for something that my MiL has just been diagnosed with.
Back to the phone, it seems cheap for a super high end product, that will sell low volume. Especially given they have designed a new heat shield, or rather they d singed a solution that pipes heat through the chassis.
1. All this says expensive phone, 2 it says it gets hot, which ultimately means it eats battery. 3. I’d also be concerned at dropping £600 (even though I thought it was his would be £1100) on a gen one product from an oem with no prior experience.
If it was me, I’d possibly by it, but if my lad wanted one, I’d be pursuing him away from this product. Wait it out till gen two, or at least wait untill it’s 6 mo has old and revaluate the phone. Plus it will be cheaper.
Personally if he wants to o blow a fortune on a phone that isn’t an iPhone, and given he sounds geeky (in the way), I’d tell him to get the pixel 2 xl, failing that the the new one plus 5t that will be here next week or so, which will be around £500, or the Moto X⁴ at £450, of the new moto G5 at £160.
All solid phones, that are guaranteed long term support.
I’m not knocking the Razor phone, it looks epic, but it’s alot of cash and a cut throat business.
November 3, 2017 at 1:42 pm #13235Lots of people have been having issues with the Pixel 2, from screen burn in to audio and even no O/S on the phone.
For the money Google are charging that’s shocking. The 5T is interesting, can’t deny that. Razer bought Nextbit, look at the Robin and you can see the similarity.
November 3, 2017 at 3:25 pm #13236Steve, GS always says “Im fine grandad!” to every question about his health, but as his dad left when he was a toddler I have been the ‘dad’ figure and know him inside out. He is as pale as a bottle of milk and looks like a stick figure, but is usually physically stronger than he looks, as a bully from schooldays found out when he had a go at him on the street a few months ago. “Did what you trained me to do grandad!” Apparently, according to his one (disabled) mate with him at the time, he then spoke to the lad on the floor: “And I have a good job and a flat, what do you have?” But I have to get him back for more tests at the hospital. He has had so much happen to him in his 23 years, just makes light of any illness.
He was never going to buy it immediately anyway, always waits to see how anything pans out in lots of reviews. He actually loves his 1+1 phone and it would take something special to replace it. He is definitely a Geek and would not mind you calling him that. Loves devices and gadgets, built and set up his own device and system to monitor his energy usage over the phone. If the day is colder or warmer when he is coming home, he changes the heating from his 1+1. Switches on the dishwasher and the oven to cook whatever he prepared for his evening meal. I started all that by building his first computer when he was (I think) 9. Always bought him interesting gadgets: robots, electrical and electronic kits. I have a feeling that he get on well with all Forumites with Geek tendencies! Amazing lad really, family hero to his sister and cousins.
Nolan you certainly can see the DNA of the Robin in the Razer. But as both of you say, a niche product, probably low volume sales. Not something the majority of phone users might buy and will not tempt Apple fans away.

I'm out.November 3, 2017 at 4:43 pm #13243I just wrote something super insightful and long (as usual), but this buggy beta software (8.1.0) decide I’d be better not sharing my thoughts! ?

Depending how this match goes, it may be me (or BL) that’s trully f-ed off.
November 4, 2017 at 5:32 pm #13271If Liverpool do as well as Forest did today, you will be one happy supporter. Forest 4 – QPR 0. We are up to 8th, getting dizzy. What makes it even better, Derby lost at home. Perfick!

I'm out.November 4, 2017 at 5:39 pm #13272Nose bleed time bob. Sadly it happens to some teams that wander too high up the table. Just look at Everton, full on altitude sickness has set in ?
November 4, 2017 at 8:04 pm #13275Cool Lee put out the fireworks for Liverpool ?
Sorry BL, not cos of the score, more your lots performance. I’ve never ever seen a ground empty so early. Personally I hats people that leave early. But I’m amaze they didn’t go at half time. I think that was the worst 45mins of footy I’ve ever seen, and I’ve some poor displays.
To their credit they had a decent 10 after HT, but our 3rd took all the wind away.
Ive heard the calls for the manager Thr last two weeks, but it seems way deeper than a manager replacment. The payers need a fire lighting under them.
God knows how. I have no ideas, well non that dont break the law.
