Younger readers may not recognise some of the nomenclature here. ???
I have reached Stage 5 or 6 in my quest to record all my CD and vinyl: just sorted through all the singles and EP’s that have been helping to make the shelves creak in the utility room. In evaluating what might sell, I found several sites, before this one: https://www.discogs.com -it’s a US site, but carries information from all over the world. I was very surprised at the records I thought might be worth a few quid but were not, and some stuff I had forgotten and would have dumped, but has a good value. I dumped perhaps 3 or 4 hundred 45’s and just kept anything which has decent value and is in good nick. I am going to put the value items together as one sale. Having valued them, I have a collection worth between £150 (low estimate) and £250 (best result) with 2 absolutely mint rare records that could go for much more. If anyone here knows of a better website, please point me to it. My son, who was a spare-time DJ for many years, dumped his much larger vinyl collection a few years ago.
Next job is to photograph, catalogue and advertise the 45’s, then attack the larger album collection, which has more high-value content. As I keep all my music backed up to NAS and an external Hdd, I can set up USB playlists for the car or home stereo. I have no interest in a fancy audio system nowadays, the onboard reception facilities on the sides of my head are just not up to it. Done all that, MP3 is fine for us now. Selling these, a few PC components and 2 desktops, should give us a nice pot and finance the laptop I want to buy next year.

I'm out.October 23, 2017 at 8:46 pm #13040I have a load of classical records that have never been played and in excellent condition. I started selling them of a couple of years back one by one but it was a pain so the vast majority are still in the cupboard.
May have a go at a job lot and get shut for some extra pennies at crimbo.

I'm out.October 23, 2017 at 9:51 pm #13042I’ll take a look, thanks. The problem is there classical with silly long names – “fluffy blow pipes of Paddington No.1 in D played by the orchestra of basil brush and the Wimbledon of Wimbledon” granted that is something stupid I have come up with in my head but it makes much more sense than what is printed on the sleeves ?

October 24, 2017 at 4:19 pm #13043If you like the music, doesn’t matter what it’s called, the music as you like it is what’s important.
I have always been a big Elvis fan and love most of his stuff, but almost all his films and the songs in them, were krap. I have not downloaded and recorded all of them to storage, just the ones I like. Look at the titles of some films: “Kissin’ Cousins” “Clambake” “Stay Way Joe” “Tickle Me”. I could go on, but generally, the dafter the film title, the worse the songs were. Plots written by a drunken “C” film screenplay author.
