I have finally managed to upgrade SWMBO’s WF Spark to Android Nougat. I have been emailing their site over and over, they just kept saying “Don’t Panic! It’s on the way!” Eventually it arrived at the phone, but would not download, I kept getting ‘Fail’ messages. Then it downloaded, but would not install due to memory issues. So I visited Android Central for a read, and found the source of my problem:
1 – the original Spark has only 2GB and the Update is 1.4GB. As the 2 GB was already at least 60% full, it was obvious that it would not fly.
2 – Another message stated that the SD Card originally installed by EE at their Grimsby shop, was too low powered to handle it, and
3 – was not set to “Internal Storage”. So I fitted a 32GB SDHC card and set it for Internal storage.
I had backed up the old SD card, but didn’t need the backup (I thought) download and install completed after about 1½ hours. Set up the phone and it all works, much faster with more features. Gave it back to SWMBO yeserday (wedding Anniversary) and she was blissfully happy. For an hour. Apparently there are a few Contacts missing. So I retrieved the backup and set about installing those contacts. Before I could, she added them from her laptop backup. I was not unhappy: it means she is actually beginning to learn to do something! Happy Days!
Now she only puts it down to use the lappy. I am dragging her out to the Garden Centre this afternoon, I need new roses.

I'm out.
